Stolen laptop

On Tuesday, Jan. 22, at 9:31 a.m. Campus Safety responded to the report of a theft at the Ritchie Center. An on-scene investigation revealed a DU staff member secured a university owned laptop to its docking station on Jan. 18 at 1 p.m.

When he returned to his office on Jan. 22, at 9:25 a.m. he discovered the laptop was missing. The office suite is secured after hours. There are no signs of forced entry. Campus Safety filed a report with the Denver Police Department. Disposition pending report review.

Unsecure ATM

On Tuesday, Jan. 22, at 6:51 p.m. a Campus Safety officer was conducting a routine patrol in the Driscoll Center when she observed an unsecured automatic teller machine near the north exit.

Campus Safety confiscated the cash box for safe keeping and contacted the vendor. It is unknown if any cash was taken from the machine.

Marijuana at Halls

On Tuesday, Jan. 22, at 11:23 p.m. Campus Safety responded to the report of the odor of marijuana coming from a residence hall room at Centennial Halls. An on-scene investigation revealed two DU students were in the room.

No drug paraphernalia was in plain view. Campus Safety confiscated other contraband in the room.

Theft at College of Law

On Wednesday, Jan. 23, at 10:52 a.m. Campus Safety responded to the report of a theft at the College of Law.

An on-scene investigation revealed items collected for a university -sponsored clothes drive were taken from a secured storage closet between Jan. 17 and Jan. 22. There were no signs of forced entry.

Purse stolen

On Wednesday, Jan. 23, at 1:20 p.m. Campus Safety responded to the report of a burglary at University Hall. An on-scene investigation revealed a DU staff member left her purse in an unsecured cabinet drawer at 10 a.m. When she returned to retrieve the purse at 12 p.m. she discovered her wallet was missing. The staff member was advised to file a report with the Denver Police Department.

Theft at C store

On Wednesday, Jan. 23, at 9:12 p.m. Campus Safety responded to the report of a theft at Johnson-McFarlane Hall. An on-scene investigation revealed a Sodexho employee left cash unsecured on the counter in the C store.

She turned away momentarily and discovered the cash was missing. There were two unidentified females in the store at the time of the theft. The Denver Police Department’s assistance was declined.

Missing license plate

On Thursday, Jan. 24, at 4:50 p.m. a DU student reported a theft in parking lot C near Centennial Halls.

A Campus Safety report revealed person(s) unknown removed the license plate from the student’s personal vehicle while it was parked in the lot.

The theft occurred between Jan. 23 at 9:30 p.m. and Jan. 24 at 3 p.m. The student was advised to file a report with the Denver Police Department.

Inappropriate behavior

On Friday, Jan. 25, at 12:38 a.m. Campus Safety responded to the report of an intoxicated student at Centennial Halls. An on-scene investigation revealed an underage and intoxicated DU student urinated in the stairwell.

Campus Safety contacted the student in his residence hall room. The student admitted the inappropriate behavior and was in possession of contraband.

The student was not severely intoxicated and was allowed to remain in his residence hall room.

Hit-and-run accident

On Friday, Jan. 22, at 2:30 p.m. a DU student reported a hit-and-run traffic accident in parking lot 103 near Centennial Halls.

A Campus Safety report revealed the student parked her personal vehicle in the lot on Tuesday, Jan. 24, 2:30 p.m. When she returned to the vehicle on Jan. 24 at 2:30 p.m. she discovered damage to the passenger side. The student was advised to file a report with the Denver Police Department.

Theft at Margery Reed

On Friday, Jan. 25, at 6:57 p.m. a DU student reported an attempted burglary at Margery Reed Hall.

An on-scene investigation revealed person(s) unknown attempted to pry open an office door. The room was still secure and no items were reported missing.

The incident occurred between Jan. 22 at 10:30 p.m. and Jan. 25 at 6:55 p.m. Disposition pending report review.
