March 17, 2020, 12:30pm. In an email to the student body, the University of Denver announced that classes will be moved online for the entirety of the spring quarter. Previously, students were told that only the first two weeks of classes would be hosted online with a tentative return planned for April 10.

Students await specifics on how spring quarter instruction will be conducted from their professors. Classes will possibly rely on Canvas and Zoom, a remote conferencing service.

The university stressed that they hope to achieve a “robust online experience” for all students, especially those in experiential learning, laboratories and arts and theatre courses. For faculty with less experience online teaching, resources will be provided and instructional designers made available.

University buildings will remain open with the use of ID scans for students and faculty. Sodexo will continue serving but food will be distributed in a grab-and-go format.

Further information regarding commencement, housing payments and reimbursements, is forthcoming. This story will be updated as more information is given.

Students can connect with a Student Outreach & Support (SOS) Case Manager to determine what support resources are available to them. They can call 303-871-2400 or reach out online to sos.du.edu.

If you believe you are exhibiting symptoms such as cough, fever and shortness of breath, call the Health and Counseling Center at 303-871-2205 before showing up to the clinic.
