Fresh beats hand-selected from the Clarion staff members for our readers with love.

Whether in the traffic creep on I-70, freezing on the ski lift or shredding the slopes, music is an unmistakable part of mountain fun. To help you get the most out of your winter weekends, we’ve come up with three playlists to help you get your freak on regardless of the weather. (Note: best enjoyed chilled, and at altitude.)

School Marm (beginning to intermediate riders)

Beginner riders have a lot to worry about. Between trees, other novice riders and overcrowded terrain, green runs can feel like a neverending labyrinth. To keep calm when weaving through fallen snowboarders and children-on-leashes, we’ve found 10 tracks to accompany your newly discovered french-fry style.

Jack Johnson – “Banana Pancakes”

Panama – “Always”

Gooey – “Glass Animals”

Matisyahu – “Sunshine”

Majid Jordan – “Her”

The National – “Anyone’s Ghost”

Empire of the Sun – “Half-Mast”

Hozier – “Someone New”

Bleachers – “I Wanna Get Better”

French Man (intermediate to advanced riders)

For the Goldilocks of riders. If you find green runs too boring and moguls too terrifying, these more upbeat tempos will keep you on your feet for everything in between. You might still have the telltale gaper’s gap between your goggles and your helmet, but you can bomb the groomed runs like nobody’s business.

Jake Bugg – “Seen It All”

Stromae – “Ta Fete”

FAUL & Wad AD vs. Pnau – “Changes”

Dirty Heads ft. Matisyahu – “Dance All Night”

Mystery Skulls – “Paralyzed”

Miguel – “Kaleidoscope Dreams”

Gorgon City – “Ready For Your Love”

Major Lazer – “Come Onto Me”

One Direction – “Steal My Girl”

Wild Card (advanced to auditioning for ‘Jackass’ riders)

If the sound of you coming down the mountain invokes avalanches and the wails of small children, this playlist is for you. We dedicate this one to all those crazy riders who’ve yelled “Send it” while jumping off something roughly the height of the Nagel Clocktower, if it were made up of the side of a cliff face and covered with smallish trees and boulders. Regardless of the conditions, you’ve got the guts to make lesser riders wish they were back on the bunny slopes. Here’s 10 tracks to keep you amped (and hopefully alive) for every hour you’re shredding.

Daft Punk – “Harder Better Faster Stronger”

Jack White – “Sixteen Saltines”

Disclosure – “White Noise (Hotel Garuda Edition)”

Joan Jett – “Bad Reputation”

Rudimental ft. Ella Eyre – “Waiting All Night”

Deorro – “Five Hours”

Jay-Z and Kanye West – “Who Gon Stop Me”

Hozier – “Take Me to Church”

Kendrick Lamar – “Maad City”

Major Lazer ft. Bumaye – “Watch Out For This”
