Renowned for his many works in “The Fly,” “Jurassic Park” and “Wicked,” American actor Jeff Goldblum and The Mildred Snitzer Orchestra will take center stage with the Colorado Symphony at Boettcher Concert Hall on Oct. 13 to perform music from their latest project “Night Blooms” and some of their more well-known tunes. 

Jeff Goldblum combines his love of theater and jazz into these performances with the Mildred Snitzer Orchestra. After performing at the Playboy Jazz Festival, Goldblum came up with the name for his band. Named after Goldblum’s parents, friend Mildred Snitzer, a large influence in his life and his career, he chose to name it after her. In 2014, they performed weekly at the Carlyle Hotel in New York City. 

It wasn’t until 2018 that Goldblum and his Orchestra were signed by Decca Records. There, they recorded their first studio album “The Capital Studio Sessions” on Nov. 9, 2018. Where it performed exceptionally well on the music charts, debuting at No. 1 on both the Billboard Jazz Albums and Traditional Jazz Albums charts.The following year, they released their second album “I Shouldn’t Be Telling You This.” It was received well in the UK  reaching No.1 in the jazz and blues 

The band’s third album “Still Blooming,” debuted at no. 1 on the Official Jazz & Blues Albums Chart. Since then, Goldblum released his most recent album “Night Blooms” making for a release of four albums. 

“Night Blooms” is a jazz album that adds a hint of showtune-style music. Supporting the showtune-style sound, the album features artists such as Charlie Puth, Ariana Grande and Scarlet Johansson, among many others.  

Inspired by his time in “Wicked,” Goldblum takes his own jazzy spin on “If Only I Had a Brain“ that features “Wicked” co-star Cynthia Erivo, and “Over the Rainbow,“ immortalizing his time in “Wicked” through song. 

Not solely covering “Wicked” or Broadway tunes, the band also covers songs from famous pop artists such as “Lover” by Taylor Swift. Goldblum and his orchestra are a cover band that plays classic jazz standards, the Great American Songbook, and vintage pop/Broadway tunes.

The band kicked off their tour in June starting in London, UK. They’ve since returned to the United States but are not finished yet. As they play in the United States, several dates on the tour will include appearances with resident symphony orchestras. 

With over a total of over twenty dates of his tour Jeff Goldblum and The Mildred Snitzer Orchestra will play in Denver for their tenth date in the United States. They will be performing with the Colorado Symphony making for an extremely special event for Denver natives.
