All My Senses, a Colorado based emo and post hardcore band recently released their new single, “Burning Out.”  Through evocative musical grit and emotionally fervent yet mournful lyrics, the song offers a fast paced and emotionally reflective insight into heartbreak and confronting friendship loss.

The band recently signed to Vaux Records, a new label from Craig Ericson who was the founder and former owner of Rise Records before its 2015 sale to BMG. All My Senses is currently gearing up for an album release in spring 2027, and “Burning Out” is a glimpse into the band’s plans for their upcoming full length project.

“Burning Out’s” emotional weight is by no means soft, featuring the post hardcore, punk and emo staple of heavy distortion and screaming. The band’s biggest inspiration to pursue this kind of music was short story character and mid 2000’s post-hardcore cult legends Harrison Bergeron.

“When I met these guys, they all had the same kind of passion for [Harrison Bergeron] that I did immediately, so that was a huge influence on us,” guitarist Miles Stevenson said.

The lyrics of “Burning Out” speak to the narrator’s confrontation of his emotions and life while mourning the loss of a deeply important relationship. Lyrics like “I miss the skies when we were kids” unveil the emotion of the album.

The raw, yet scrupulously performed vocals give the lyrics an edge that comes from the core of lead singer Erich Albrecht’s experiences and feelings. They hold insurmountable weight in their expression of the pain of not being able to connect with someone like you were once able to.

The band’s inspiration for the lyrics were in part inspired by the passing of Stevenson’s dog, and  Albrecht’s personal experiences with the importance of moving on after experiencing great difficulties, saying “things change and you have to move forward”

Drummer Jordan Pasquin’s drumming features post-hardcore staple double time punk beats for verses and switches to full time beats for choruses. This shows glints of second-wave emo heavy hitters like Sunny Day Real Estate and Texas is the Reason.

The song slows down for the bridge, featuring lyrics that demonstrate a love that the narrator used to know but has now grown apart from. Lines like “she’s always chasing after something” and “every season’s taking something” speaks to the narrator’s degrading mental state as they lose the love they once had, and the difficulty of trying to move on from that struggle.

The narrator wishes they could experience the love they lost, and his feelings being unrequited breaks him down progressively as time goes on and life pushes the two further apart.

Although time moves on, the pain felt by the narrator is presented as not being any easier. Albrecth sings,“nothing’s changing,” revealing the permanent nature of the pain that came from the separation. The unique kind of hopeless pain that comes from loss continues to afflict the narrator no matter how much time passes.

The bridge concludes and feeds into a half time outro section which  shows the narrator’s reaction to the pain: emotional withdrawal from reality and reminiscence of the times they spent with the subject.

“Now I don’t care whats coming next / so bury my emotions in the backyard of my parents,” Albrecht sings. Although the narrator is burdened with the pain of loss, their memories remain, and the narrator must move forward regardless of if they want to or not.

Although relatively new to the post-hardcore, emo and punk scenes, All My Senses is quickly becoming one of Colorado’s staple post-hardcore acts. They are sure to impress when their album releases next year, and have an upcoming show slated for Oct. 16 at Laurel Fest, a three day Fort Collins based music festival.
