Crime Report: Week of Jan. 6

Domestic Dispute

Monday, Jan. 6, 2014 at 3:47 p.m. – DCS responded to a call regarding a domestic dispute between a contract employee and an unaffiliated party in Nagel Hall. Upon arrival at the scene, officers spoke with the contract employee who stated that the unaffiliated party had left campus just prior to DCS arrival.

Theft

Tuesday, Jan. 7, 2014 at 4:34 p.m. – DCS responded to a call regarding the theft of several university owned banners from the Chambers Center for the Advancement of Women. Upon arrival at the scene, officers spoke with a staff member who stated that the banners had been stolen from poles just outside the building and were last seen on Jan. 2.

Sunday, Jan. 12, 2014 at 2:06 p.m. – DCS responded to a call regarding the theft of a bicycle from the Lambda Chi Alpha Fraternity. Upon arrival at the scene, officers spoke with a student who stated that the bicycle had been stolen from the kitchen of the fraternity.

Medical Assist

Friday, Jan. 10, 2014 at 5:28 p.m. – DCS responded to a call regarding a student in need of medical assistance in Centennial Halls. Upon arrival at the scene, officers contacted the student in question and Denver Fire Department (DFD) personnel who were providing assistance to the student. The student was transported via ambulance to Porter Hospital.

Sunday, Jan. 12, 2014 at 3:35 p.m. – DCS responded to a call regarding an unaffiliated party who had slipped and fallen on a patch of ice in parking lot 306. Upon arrival at the scene, officers spoke with the unaffiliated party (a minor) in question and their parent who stated that the minor had fallen twice on the same patch of ice and injured their back. The unaffiliated party was transported by their parent to Porter Hospital.

Alcohol

Friday, Jan. 10, 2014 at 9:07 p.m. – DCS responded to a call regarding an overly intoxicated student in Centennial Halls. Upon arrival at the scene, officers contacted the student in question and determined that they needed to be evaluated by paramedics. Paramedics determined that the student was safe to remain on campus.

Saturday, January 11, 2014 at 12:40 a.m. – DCS responded to a call regarding two intoxicated unaffiliated parties in Centennial Towers. Upon arrival at the scene, officers contacted the two parties and the Denver Police Department (DPD). DPD cited one party for underage intoxication and disturbing the peace. Both were trespassed from campus. One was transported by DPD to Denver County Jail and the second was transported to Porter Hospital by paramedics.

Narcotics

Friday, Jan. 10, 2014 at 11:21 p.m. – DCS responded to a call regarding the odor of marijuana emanating from a residential room in Johnson-McFarlane Hall. Upon arrival at the scene, officers spoke with a student who denied having used the drug.

Public Urination

Saturday, Jan. 11, 2014 at 10:42 p.m. – DCS responded to a call regarding two unknown parties who had urinated outside of a residential room in Centennial Towers. Upon arrival at the scene, officers spoke with two students who stated that they had heard the unknown parties outside of their room and that they believed that one of them had urinated in the hallway.

Detox

Sunday, Jan. 12, 2014 at 12:19 a.m. – DCS responded to a call from DPD regarding a student who they had in custody near South University Boulevard and East Asbury Avenue. Upon arrival at the scene, DCS officers spoke with DPD officers who stated that they had witnessed the student vandalize a parked vehicle and a local business and that they would be transporting the student to Denver Cares.

Sunday, Jan. 12, 2014 at 1:56 a.m. – DCS responded to a call regarding an intoxicated student in Nagel Hall. Upon arrival at the scene, officers contacted the student in question and paramedics. Due to their intoxication level, the student was transported to Porter Hospital by paramedics.

Sunday, Jan. 12, 2014 at 2:26 a.m. – While on routine patrol, a DCS officer observed a highly intoxicated student entering Centennial Halls. The officer contacted the student who refused to provide identification. DPD was called to the scene where they searched the student and found them to be in possession of a false identification card, marijuana and drug paraphernalia. DCS officers confiscated the contraband items and DPD transported the student to Denver Cares.
