Approximately 50 people attended the opening of the Tradition and Legacy Exhibit this past Monday in Anderson Academic Commons, part of DU’s Sesquicentennial Event Series.

“This [exhibit] helps us know who we are and how we got to this place,” said Chancellor Robert Coombe at the exhibit opening.

The multimedia exhibit spans the three floors of the library and will be open through the end of the year. There are currently 10 stops in the exhibit, which include “An Evolving Campus” with scale models of DU buildings and “Athletics and Recreation,” highlighting various sports uniforms and paraphernalia throughout the university’s history. Planned additions to the exhibit in March will be “A Culture of Philanthropy,” “Creative Arts” and the “2012-2013 Student Population.”

Director of Digital Marketing Na’im McKee showed attendees how to navigate the new sesquicentennial website, which features an interactive timeline and historic map. Students and alumni are encouraged to add their own DU experiences to the timeline. The website also hosts the Pioneer Network, which enables current students and alumni to contact other students; students can access the Pioneer Network through their LinkedIn profile.

The event posed several trivia questions regarding DU’s history to the audience. During and after the presentation, attendees could spin a prize wheel and answer questions to win prizes. Snacks were also provided.
