In recognition of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., the Office of Multicultural Affairs will be hosting a series of events next week.
Beginning on Monday, students can meet to attend the City of Denver “MLK Jr. Parade” at City Park. The parade begins at 8:30 a.m. The university will be closed on Monday due to the holiday.
The events continue on Tuesday with the screening of the documentary “At the River I Stand.” The documentary is based on the 1968 Memphis sanitation strike and the assassination of King. It begins at 6:30 p.m. in Lindsey Auditorium.
The Brown Bag Lunch on Wednesday will feature King in a discussion entitled “Martin: The man, in his words.” The discussion will be held at the Office of Multicultural Affairs from 12-1 p.m.
The celebration concludes on Thursday with the award-winning play “The Meeting.” It portrays a fictitious encounter between King and Malcolm X. The Illiff School of Theology will host the production in The Great Hall at 6:30 p.m.
