Reckless driver
On Friday, Feb. 24, at 9:05 p.m., a Campus Safety officer was conducting a routine patrol near parking lot 316 when she heard a traffic accident in the lot.
An on-scene investigation revealed an unaffiliated party was backing out of a parking space and struck two vehicles. One vehicle, belonging to an unaffiliated party had minor damage. The other vehicle, belonging to a DU staff member had major damage. The Denver Police Department cited the driver with reckless driving. Risk Management will be notified.
Auto assessor
On Saturday, Feb. 25, at 1:35 a.m., Campus Safety and the Denver Police Department responded to the report of a suspicious party looking into vehicles in the 2300 block of East Wesley Avenue.
An on-scene investigation revealed an unaffiliated party was acting suspiciously. The party was issued a trespass order and advised not to return to campus.
Lawn Rover
On Saturday, Feb. 25, at 1 a.m., Campus Safety responded to the report of reckless driving on the lawn near the Ammi Hyde building.
An on-scene investigation revealed an unaffiliated party admitted to driving across the lawn. The party stated he thought it was a roadway. No damage to the lawn was reported. Campus Safety completed a report.
Broken windows
On Saturday, Feb. 25, at 8:09 a.m., Campus Safety responded to the report of vandalism at the Delta Zeta sorority house.
An on-scene investigation revealed person(s) unknown threw rocks through the windows near the entrance to the house. Facilities Management was notified. A Campus Safety investigation is ongoing.
Green graffiti
On Saturday, Feb. 25, at 5:27 p.m., Campus Safety responded to the report of vandalism in parking lot 302. An on-scene investigation revealed a Sodexho van was painted with green spray paint.
The vandalism occurred between Friday, Feb. 24, at 7:30 p.m., and Saturday, Feb. 25, at 9 a.m. A Campus Safety investigation is ongoing.
Tractor trouble
On Sunday, Feb. 26, at 5:20 a.m., a Campus Safety officer was conducting a routine patrol near the HRTM building when he discovered a damaged fence in a construction area. The officer observed two DU students fleeing the area.
The students were contacted and questioned about the damage. Video surveillance confirmed the students drove a tractor into the construction fence. Risk Management and the Office of Citizenship and Community Standards will be notified.
Bicycle theft
On Monday, Feb. 27, at 3 p.m. a DU student reported a bicycle theft from a bicycle rack in parking lot N. A Campus Safety report revealed a DU student secured his bicycle with a U-Lock on Thursday, Feb. 23, at 9 p.m.
When he returned to retrieve the bicycle on Monday, Feb. 27, at 2:20 p.m., he found it was missing. The student contacted the Denver Police Department to file a report.
Free junk food!
On Monday, Feb. 27, at 5:19 p.m., Campus Safety responded to the report of an unsecured vending machine at the College of Law. An on-scene investigation revealed a third-floor vending machine was left unsecured.
Campus Safety was not successful in contacting the vending company. The food items, coin and bill receptacles were confiscated by Campus Safety for safekeeping. Campus Safety completed a report.
Icy accident
On Tuesday, Feb. 28, at 9:22 p.m., Campus Safety responded to the report of an injured party at the Joy Burns Ice Arena.
An on-scene investigation revealed a DU student was accidentally struck with a hockey stick causing a cut above her eye.
Paramedic’s assistance was declined. The student made arrangements to be transported to Swedish Hospital for medical treatment.
Verbal harassment
On Tuesday, Feb. 28, a DU staff member reported a DU student was the victim of verbal harassment in the 2100 block of S. Josephine Street. A Campus Safety report revealed the harassment occurred between Monday, Jan. 9, and Wednesday, Jan. 11.
Three unidentified males were walking behind the student making harassing comments. Denver Police Department assistance was declined. Campus Safety completed a report.
Intimidating caller
On Wednesday, March 1, at 2:19 a.m., Campus Safety responded to the report of a disturbance at Johnson-McFarlane Hall. An on-scene investigation revealed an unknown party was banging on the door and trying to gain access to the room.
The party ripped papers off the door before departing. The DU student who resides in the room was fearful the party would return. The suspect was not found during a search of the area. Campus Safety completed a report.
Sculpture sabotage
On Wednesday, March 1, at 4 p.m., Campus Safety responded to the report of vandalism at Shwayder Art Building. An on-scene investigation revealed a ceramic statue was damaged.
The vandalism occurred between Friday, Feb. 24, and Wednesday, March 1. A Campus Safety investigation is ongoing.
Fraternity vandalism
On Thursday, March 2, at 1:50 a.m., a Campus Safety officer was conducting a routine patrol near Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity house when he observed banners and posters on the ground.
An on-scene investigation revealed person(s) unknown removed plywood from the windows and discharged fire extinguishers into the building. A Campus Safety investigation is ongoing.
