Denver area clubs weren’t the only places with singing, music and dancing last Thursday. Winter Carnival’s annual talent show was also on.

Sloan Anderson, who sang a humorous medley from “The Little Shop of Horrors,” won first prize of $150.

Nitosha Trujillo, who danced to Janet Jackson’s “All for You,” came in second and won $100. Third place and $50 went to Christian Wirth, who performed “I Will Survive.”

The winners were announced at the end of the show. However, according to Jillian Doss, the talent show coordinator, the votes were counted incorrectly, and the original announcement did not list the winners in correct order.

There were five singing, two instrumental and two dancing routines. The crowd was boisterous and vocal throughout the night.

The night started off with Sarah Rinehart singing “Genie In a Bottle.” Following her the DU dance team performed to a Janet Jackson medley. Disney got its representation from Melanie Gretchen, who sang “God Help the Outcasts” from The Hunchback of Notre Dame. Kim Snyder and Mary Stringer played a flute and trumpet duet.

Winter Carnival would like to thank all those who tried out and participated and attended the show.

“The night was fun, and if you missed out make sure you come next year,” said Erin Slasson.
