Dead deer

On Saturday, March 11, at 7:25 p.m., a DU staff member reported a traffic accident on Highway 9 between Kremling and Silverthorne. A Campus Safety report revealed the staff member was driving a university-owned vehicle when she struck a deer. There was significant damage to the vehicle. No injuries were reported. The staff member contacted Colorado State Patrol to file a report. Risk Management will be notified.

Student arrested

On Monday, March 13, at 12:16 a.m., Campus Safety and Denver Police Department responded to the report of an assault at Centennial Towers. An on- scene investigation revealed a DU student forced his way into a residence hall room belonging to a DU student.

The suspect assaulted an unaffiliated party who was present in the room and fled the area. The suspect returned to the scene and he was arrested by Denver Police Department. The student was charged with burglary and assault. Paramedics treated the unaffiliated party on-scene but he declined transportation to a medical facility.

The Office of Citizenship and Community Standards will be notified.

Student mugged

On Friday, March 17, at 3 a.m., Campus Safety and Denver Police Department responded to the report of an assault in the 2200 block of South University Boulevard. An on-scene investigation revealed a DU student was walking on South University Boulevard when he was approached by an unknown male carrying a knife. The suspect demanded money and a struggle ensued. The student sustained a minor injury but was able to get away from the suspect. Medical assistance was declined. Denver Police Department and Campus Safety investigations are ongoing.

Dorm struggle

On Friday, March 24, at 2:45 a.m., a DU student reported personal property was grabbed from her arms as she walked to Centennial Halls. During an on-scene investigation, Campus Safety recovered the property on the east side of Centennial Halls. A Campus Safety investigation is ongoing.

Dump and run

On Monday, March 27, at 9:21 a.m., Campus Safety and Denver Police Department responded to the report of a hit and run traffic accident in the 1800 block of South High Street. An on-scene investigation revealed a vehicle belonging to an unaffiliated party was parked on South High Street when it was struck by an unknown party. The party reported seeing a dump truck strike her vehicle. Campus Safety officers were unable to locate the dump truck. A Campus Safety investigation is ongoing.

Library illness

On Tuesday, March 28, at 9:28 p.m., Campus Safety and Denver Fire Department responded to the report of an ill party at the Penrose Library. An on-scene investigation revealed a DU student fell down the stairs while having a seizure. Paramedics transported the student to Porter Hospital for medical treatment. Risk Management will be notified.

Stolen books

On Tuesday, March 28, at 5:01 p.m., a DU staff member reported theft at the DU Bookstore. Video surveillance revealed an unknown party left the store with two items he did not purchase. A Campus Safety investigation is ongoing.

Groggy robber

On Wednesday, March 29, at 6:30 a.m., a Campus Safety officer was conducting a routine patrol in the 2400 block of Buchtel Boulevard when he discovered a known stolen vehicle. Denver Police Department responded and found an unaffiliated party was asleep inside the vehicle. The party was taken into custody for numerous offenses.

Manhole

On Friday, March 31, at 3:13 a.m., Campus Safety responded to the report of stolen property in the 1900 block of South Williams Street. An on-scene investigation revealed two DU students were in possession of a manhole cover belonging to the City of Denver. Campus Safety officers confiscated the cover and properly replaced it. The Denver Police Department was contacted and the Office of Citizenship and Community Standards will be notified.

Theft on lacrosse field

On Tuesday, April 4, at 3:50 p.m., a Campus Safety officer was conducting a routine patrol at the Peter Barton Lacrosse Stadium when he discovered three fire extinguishers had been removed from their cases. Facilities Management was notified and the fire extinguishers were replaced. There are no suspects at this time. A Campus Safety investigation is ongoing.

Hockey injury

On Wednesday, April 5, at 10:19 p.m., Campus Safety responded to the report of an ill party at The Ritchie Center. An on-scene investigation revealed an unaffiliated hockey player was struck in the chin with a puck. The party declined medical assistance. Campus Safety completed a report.

Bible distribution

On Thursday, April 6, at 10:30 a.m., Campus Safety responded to the report of harassment at Old Iliff Hall. An on-scene investigation revealed an unknown party left Bibles in front of three Iliff staff member offices, which made the staff members feel uneasy. The party is suspected to be an Iliff student. Campus Safety completed a report.

Drunk falls

On Friday, April 7, at 3:12 a.m., Campus Safety and Denver Fire Department responded to the report of an intoxicated party at Nelson Hall. An on-scene investigation revealed an underage and intoxicated DU student was injured. The student reported his injuries were due to a fall. Paramedics transported the student to Swedish Hospital for medical treatment. The Office of Citizenship and Community Standards will be notified.
