It was a season of firsts for the womens lacrosse team and they kept coming this past week even after the season had ended.
Junior Kristie Leggio was named to the division 1 All-Regional First Team for the West Region announced by the Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association. Senior Steph Greenlees was named to the second team and the two players are the first in DU history to be named to the team’s.
On the men’s side of things, senior midfielder Geoff Snider was named to the 2006 STX/USILA All-American Third Team. Snider along with teammate senior Adam Goodwin both earned Scholar All-American honors for the Great WEstern Lacrosse League.
Senior men’s swimmer Brian Flaherty continued to receive more awards this past week for his achievements in the classroom. He was named the male recipient of the 2006 Sun Belt Conference postgraduate scholarship award, which is a $2,000 award.
It was also announced last week that DU won the SBC graduation rate award for the sixth consecutive year. Denver continues to be the only school to have won the award since its inception in 2000. The latest numbers reveal that 83% of DU’s scholarship athletes graduated, which is 14% higher than the undergraduate body.
Dont forget senior men’s golfer James Love will be competing in the NCAA golf championships this weekend in Oregon.
