Sex, media, power Sexual Assault Awareness Week begins April 7 and will last through April 11. This year’s theme is “Sex, Media, and Power.” Events will include the Clothes Line Project, a summit on consumerism and “Taking Back the Night,” which will include a speech on Driscoll Lawn followed by a march around campus and a candle lighting ceremony.
Poetry slam by Big Poppa E Performance Poet Big Poppa E, who’s unique blend of monologue, poetry and stand up comedy has been performed from BET’s “The Way We Do It” to CBS’s “60 Minutes” will perform tonight from 6:30 – 8 p.m. in Davis Auditorium in Sturm Hall.
Israel-Palestine lecture Arab journalist Khaled Abu Toameh will give a lecture, titled “Israel and Palestinian Territories” tomorrow at 7 p.m. in Olin Hall. Toameh is an award-winning journalist and news producer who is renowned for his unique and brave reporting on Palestinian affairs. The talk is sponsored by the Institute for the Study of Israel in the Middle East.
Misogyny lecture The Consuming Misogyny Symposium is being held on Friday from 12 – 4:15 p.m. in Sturm Hall. Discussion will focus on the role people play as consumers in perpetuating a culture of sexual violence following the keynote speaker.
Festival of Nations Celebrate diversity at the Festival of Nations on Saturday, Friday from 12 – 5 p.m. in Driscoll Center. There will be traditional performances, cultural displays and food from all over the world for purchase. It will bring together a variety of student groups and Denver organizations. The event is free and open to all DU students.

Byron Hurt will present his documentary, Hip Hop: Beyond Beats and Rhyme in which he examines issues of masculinity and sexism through interviews with rappers and female students at 7 p.m. in Davis Auditorium.
Democracy’s March Madness The deadline for the campus contest, “March Madness: Democratic Party Style” has been extended through April 15. The contest challenges universities to get new people to attend Idea Raisers, gatherings of family, friends, colleges and classmates to brainstorm about important political topics and try to come up with innovative solutions. The campus that attracts the most new people to Idea Raisers by the new date will win a campus visit from Congressman Mark Udall, courtesy of the Colorado Democratic Party.

Career Fair The Non-Profit and Government Career Fair will be held in Driscoll Ballroom Wednesday, April 16, from 2 – 5 p.m. It offers the opportunity to meet members associated with federal and local government, community service organizations, and human services. Battle of the bands, play with RJD2 DU’s Battle of the Bands will be held in the Pub Wednesday, April 16, from 7 – 11 p.m. The first and second place winners will open for RJD2, Flobots and Kinetix at the May Days music festival on May 22.
