Idiosingcrasies, a DU a capella singing group, won the fifth annual Mile High Vocal Jam competition for the second year in a row last week.

Each group has only ten minutes to “wow” a panel of judges, according to Michelle Fox, the current president of Idiosingcrasies.

Teams are judged by overall performance in addition to criteria such as dynamics, emotion and movement.

This year there were 13 teams competing: three high schools and 10 colleges, including another DU team, Exit 205.

Idiosingcrasies came in first, followed by University of Colorado Denver’s team Ninth Street Singers and CSU’s team Ramblings, which came in third.

“We worked really hard and it paid off,” said Fox. “The groups there are amazing and it’s exciting to be part of such a great community.”

The medley performed this year that led to the group’s victory had a time-based theme beginning with a song from Inception  and continuing with “Time is Running Out” by Muse, “Every Time We Touch” by Cascada, “Only Time” by Enya and “Time” by Billy Porter.

“I’m incredibly proud of what we accomplished,” said Fox. “The group has come a long way since my freshman year and I know this is just the beginning of great success for us.”
