International luncheon
The final International luncheon of the quarter will be sponsored by the Office of Graduate Studies The lunch is free and will be provided by Old Siam. Menu items include vegetarian pad Thai, chicken curry, beef stir-fry and rice. These lunches are open to anyone interested in anything international and are an opportunity to sample foods from across the world as well as to make new friends.
Lunch will be served at the International House, today, from noon – 1:30 p.m.
CME Presents “A Shot at Love with Tila Tequila”
Come watch MTV’s “A Shot at Love with Tequila” sponsored by the Center for Multicultural Excellence. Following the first episode, we will be having a discussion on gender and sexuality as portrayed in mainstream media in the United States. International Service Learning open house Stop by the International House (2200 S Josephine St.) today to hear stories from ISL alumni and get your questions answered. There will be a short presentation by ISL staff at 6 p.m. and, of course, international food to sample. The event will be held from 5:30 – 7:30 p.m.

International film and culture series The ISSS Film and Culture Series will present “L’Auberge Espagnole (The Spanish Apartments)” in connection with International Education Week. The movie is directed by Cédric Klapisch. Xavier, the main character, decides to participate in an exchange program to Spain as part of his economics degree in France. He moves into an apartment complex with several students from other European countries. As with any study abroad experience the adventures seem to come at every turn. The film is mainly in Spanish, French and English but short scenes are in other languages. It is subtitled and runs 122 minutes. Snacks will be served. The movie will be screened at the International House, at the corner of Warren and Josephine, in the first floor dining room on Friday, Nov. 9 from 6 – 8:30 p.m.
Native Runway Show On Sunday, Nov. 11 at 3 p.m. attend the Native Runway Show in Driscoll Ballroom. The show will showcase models and designers from the Native Community and the event is free to the public. For information, contact Leo Begay at lbegay@du.edu.
Habitat for Humanity meeting
The Center for Community Engagement & Service Learning presents a Community Partner Conversation: Habitat for Humanity of Metro Denver’s Youth United Program on Friday from noon- 1:30 p.m. in Sturm 286, Humanities Room. Youth United empowers youth, ages 5-25, to plan, fundraise and build a Habitat for Humanity home in partnership with a low-income family from the Denver metro area. Habitat for Humanity International seeks to eliminate poverty housing and homelessness from the world and to make decent shelter a matter of conscience and action. Please RSVP to engage@du.edu.
