Damaged door handle

On Tuesday, Jan. 15, at 6:16 a.m., a Campus Safety officer was conducting a routine patrol at Knudson Hall when he observed damage to the west exterior door. An on-scene investigation revealed person(s) known damaged the door handle. The handle was still operable. Facilities Management was requested to repair the door.

Shoplifting at DU Bookstore

On Tuesday, Jan. 15, at 2:16 p.m., a DU staff member reported a party attempted to shoplift merchandise from the DU Bookstore located in Driscoll South. Campus Safety and the Denver Police Department responded. The Denver Police Department issued the unaffiliated party a summons for misdemeanor theft. The party was trespassed from campus. Campus Safety completed a report.

Injury at Coors Fitness Center

On Tuesday, Jan. 15, at 6:33 p.m., Campus Safety responded to the report of an injured party at the Coors Fitness Center. An on-scene investigation revealed a DU student injured his ankle during a racquetball game. Paramedics transported the student to Porter Hospital for medical treatment.

Injury at Joy Burns Arena

On Tuesday, Jan. 15, at 5:55 p.m., Campus Safety responded to the report of an injured party at the Joy Burns Arena. An on-scene investigation revealed an unaffiliated party was playing hockey when he accidentally collided with another player and injured his leg. Paramedics transported the party to Swedish Medical Center for medical treatment. Risk Management will be notified.

Intoxicated man at Magness Arena

On Tuesday, Jan. 15, at 11:57 p.m., Campus Safety responded to the report of an intoxicated party at the Magness Arena. An on-scene investigation revealed a contract employee working in the arena appeared to be intoxicated. The man was asked to leave campus and given a taxi cab voucher. A taxi arrived at 1:27 a.m. and transported the man to an unknown location. Disposition pending report review.

Car break in

On Wednesday, Jan. 16, at 2:33

p.m., a DU staff member reported a theft an unidentified off-campus location. A Campus Safety report revealed person(s) unknown broke into the staff member’s personal vehicle on Dec. 31, 2007. University keys were among the items taken. The staff member filed a report with the Denver Police Department.

Harassing voice mail

On Wednesday, Jan. 16, at 3:42 p.m., Campus Safety responded to the report of harassment at Craig Hall. An on-scene investigation revealed a DU graduate left an inappropriate voicemail message for a DU staff member. Disposition pending report review.

Hit and run

On Wednesday, Jan. 16, at 4:53 p.m., an unaffiliated party reported a hit and run traffic accident in parking lot 301 near the Driscoll Center. A Campus Safety report revealed the party’s personal vehicle was parked in the lot. At 1:05 p.m., another unaffiliated party witnessed an unidentified party driving a sport utility vehicle back into party’s vehicle. Minor damage was reported. Risk Management will be notified. Disposition pending report review.

Smoking in showers

On Wednesday, Jan. 16, at 9:10 p.m., Campus Safety responded to the report of the odor of marijuana coming from a restroom at Johnson-McFarlane Hall. An on-scene investigation revealed two DU students were in the restroom and showering in stalls next to each other. Both students admitted smoking a cigarette but denied smoking marijuana. The Office of Citizenship and Community Standards will be notified.

Marijuana smoking

On Wednesday, Jan. 16, at 11:50 p.m. Campus Safety responded to the report of the odor of marijuana coming from a residence at the House of York Apartments. An on-scene investigation revealed a DU student admitted smoking marijuana in the room and was in possession of contraband. The contraband was confiscated by Campus Safety.

Suspicious writing

On Thursday, Jan. 17, at 8:23 a.m. Campus Safety responded to the report of suspicious activity at Craig Hall.

An on-scene investigation revealed person(s) unknown had written unusual messages on a dry erase board posted near offices on the third floor. Disposition pending report review.
