Up ’til Dawn was able to add $385 toward its cause because of the “Kiss This!” Dating Auction held last week.

Up ’til Dawn is an all-night party for those who raise funds through teamwork and letter-writing campaign to raise funds for St. Jude’s Hospital. The party will be in the spring quarter

The auction, hosted by Heidi Schaler, distributed items to the audience and then a raffle was held. Winners received prizes such as free DU hockey ticket, a $15 gift certificate for Godiva chocolates, a $15 gift certificate to PF Chang’s, a $15 gift certificate to the Dutch Flower Market, a gift certificate to Bonnie Brae Ice Cream and gift certificates for Blockbuster.

The 10 potential dates participating in the dating auction segment all had different personalities. Dave Coats, a resident assistant, began to take off his shirt, revealing a Superman shirt underneath. He said he wants to know, “how to change the world over a cup of chai.” A date with him brought $20.

Rory Vaden found a more traditional way to get high bid. He placed a rose between his teeth and danced while unbuttoning his shirt. The high bid was $15. Brad Wiles, another potential date, said the main thing he looks for in a date is that she is “genuinely chill.” A date with him brought $50.

Seth Pfaltzgraff, another resident assistant, dressed in disco attire and danced across the stage until the bidding on him was complete. The final bid came to $30. Other high bids were on Kelly Smith, a 19-year-old freshman and Gamma Phi pledge, at $60, and Katie Vilders of Delta Zeta at $50.

At the end of the show, Schaler put down her microphone and walked across stage to be bid on. This became a heated part of the auction as bids became louder and faster, finally resulting in a whopping bid of $100.
