Student robbed
On Saturday, Jan. 20, at 2:07 a.m., Campus Safety and Denver Police Department responded to Delta Delta Delta sorority to the report of a robbery. A DU student reported the robbery occurred earlier that day between 1:30 a.m. and 1:45 a.m. near East Evans Avenue and South Gilpin Street.
The student reported she was approached by two unidentified males who demanded her wallet and fled south on South Gilpin Street. No injuries were reported.
Phony service repairmen
On Saturday, Jan. 20, at 9 p.m., Campus Safety and Denver Police Department responded to the report of two suspicious males impersonating elevator servicemen in the 1900 block of South York Street. An on-scene investigation revealed two unidentified males were in a stranded vehicle.
Denver Police Department discovered both males’ driver’s licenses had been revoked. Denver Police Department instructed the males they could not drive the vehicle and to call someone for assistance. Campus Safety issued a warning to the males not to return to campus. Campus Safety completed a report.
KVDU’s CDs stolen
On Sunday, Jan. 21, at 11:34 a.m., Campus Safety responded to the report of a theft at the Driscoll Center.
An on-scene investigation revealed someone had removed compact discs from KVDU between Thursday, Jan. 18, at 11:20 a.m. and Saturday, Jan. 20, at 5 p.m. It is unknown if the room was secured. A Campus Safety investigation is ongoing.
Drugs confiscated
On Sunday, Jan. 21 at 10:22 p.m., Campus Safety responded to the report that the odor of marijuana was coming from a residence hall room at Centennial Halls.
An on-scene investigation revealed three underage DU students were in possession of alcohol and drug paraphernalia. Campus Safety supervised the disposal of the alcohol and confiscated the drug paraphernalia. The Office of Citizenship and Community Standards will be notified.
Female student harassed
On Monday, Jan. 22, at 10:45 a.m., a DU student reported sexual harassment in the 2000 block of South High Street.
An on-scene investigation revealed the student was walking southbound on South High Street when an unidentified male made sexually explicit comments to her. The student declined his advances and the male fled northbound on South High Street. Campus Safety was unable to locate the male. A Campus Safety investigation is ongoing.
Ritchie Center theft
On Monday, Jan. 22, at 2 p.m., a DU staff member reported a theft at the Ritchie Center.
An on-scene investigation revealed university-owned electronic equipment was taken from an office between Dec.17 and Jan. 17. The staff member reported the office was secured when he was not present. The staff member was advised to file a report with Denver Police Department. A Campus Safety investigation is on-going.
Newman trespasser
On Monday, Jan. 22 at 7:30 p.m., Campus Safety responded to the report of a suspicious person at the Newman Center. An on-scene investigation revealed an unaffiliated male was trying to access rooms on the second and third floors. The man reported he was trying to leave audio tape for a DU staff member. The man was escorted from campus. Campus Safety completed a report.
Check fraud
On Tuesday, Jan. 23, at 3:49 p.m., a DU student reported check fraud. A Campus Safety report revealed the student was advertising a room for rent in the 2300 block of South High Street. An unidentified party sent the student checks for a deposit on the room.
The checks were issued in a greater amount than the deposit and the party asked for the student to send a personal check for the refund amount. The student discovered the checks were not valid and filed a report with Denver Police Department. Campus Safety completed a report.
Deflated tires
On Tuesday, Jan. 23, at 4:50 p.m., Campus Safety and Denver Police Department responded to a report of vandalism in the 2200 block of South High Street. An on-scene investigation revealed person(s) deflated the tires of a vehicle belonging to a DU staff member. Several witnesses contacted Campus Safety with suspect information. Campus Safety and Denver Police Department investigations are on-going.
Greek gas smell
On Tuesday, Jan. 23, at 10:21 p.m. Campus Safety and Denver Fire Department responded to the report of the odor of gas at the Delta Zeta sorority house. Residents of the house were evacuated. An on-scene investigation revealed the pilot light of the kitchen stove was no longer lit. The house was ventilated and the residents were allowed to return. Campus Safety completed a report.
Student tantrum
On Wednesday, Jan. 24, at 3:15 p.m., Campus Safety responded to the report of a disturbance at the Mary Reed building. An on-scene investigation revealed an unidentified DU student had an out burst in an administrative office. DU staff members reported they did not feel threatened by the student. The student was counseled about his behavior. Campus Safety completed a report.
Another drug bust
On Thursday, Jan. 25, at 9:10 p.m. Campus Safety responded to the report of the odor of marijuana coming from a residence hall room at Centennial Halls.
An on-scene investigation revealed a DU student and an unaffiliated party were in possession of marijuana. The contraband was confiscated and the unaffiliated party was escorted from campus. The Office of Citizenship and Community Standards will be notified.
