Winter Carnival reservations

Information on the 2009 Winter Carnival will be available on the Driscoll bridge through Thursday.

Activities scheduled for the Winter Carnival include the Grill ‘n Chill and on-mountain events in Winter Park from Friday, Feb. 6 to Sunday, Feb. 8.

The last day to reserve a room in Winter Park at the reduced DU Winter Carnival rate is Friday.

Discount ski passes available

The Aspen Skiing Company is offering the College X Pass, a picture pass valid for two days of skiing or riding during the Winter X Games 13 beginning Thursday, Jan. 22 and running through Sunday, Jan. 25.

The pass is good on Snowmass, Aspen Mountain, Aspen Highlands and the X Games home mountain, Buttermilk.

The pass costs $65 and comes with a coupon for 35 percent off equipment rentals at Four-Mountain Sports. Up to two additional days may be added for $45 per day.

Iliff awards

The Iliff School of Theology will hold their Alumni/ae Annual Meeting and Awards Banquet Friday, Jan. 23 at 6 p.m. at 2201 S. University Blvd. in the Great Hall. The meeting will feature the election of officers, new board members and the approval of new bylaws. Following the meeting, the Iliff School will recognize a number of outstanding individuals for their service to the school, their communities and others.

The event is $50 per person and the deadline to RSVP is Friday.

Clergy conference at Iliff

The Alumni/ae Association of The Iliff School of Theology will offer “Radical Hospitality” as part of their 2009 Days of Lectures and Fellowship on Friday, Jan. 23 and Saturday, Jan. 24 at 2201 S. University Blvd. The two-day event is meant to enrich clergy and lay leaders through teaching, learning, building connections and fellowship.

Guest speakers include Rev. Jane Vennard and Bishop Elaine Stanovsky. Commentaries and breakout sessions will allow a chance for discussion.

The event costs $125 per person and the registration deadline is Friday.

Global journalism event

DU’s Estlow International Center for Journalism and New Media presents Globally Speaking… Voices, Visions & Viewpoints on Feb. 5 from 9:30 a.m. to 5:45 p.m. in the Driscoll Student Center. The event will feature conversations about issues that affect the planet and the way we communicate.

Workshops will include Beyond Study Abroad: Internationalizing Learning at DU and Public Relations Across Cultures.

Study abroad photo contest

Students can win cash prizes from $25 to $75 in the 2009 Study Abroad Photo Contest. All photos must be submitted in a digital format, and up to five photos may be submitted.
