On Tuesday, Sept. 27, at 11:49 p.m., Campus Safety responded to a call from the Shwayder Art Building regarding a student in need of medical assistance. Officers arrived on the scene, evaluated the student and contacted paramedics for additional assistance. The student was transported to Porter Hospital by paramedics.
Theft
On Tuesday, Sept. 27, at 5:15 p.m., Campus Safety responded to a call from a staff member in Driscoll South regarding a shoplifter in the bookstore. Officers responded to the scene and contacted the reporting party and the suspected shoplifter, a student. The Denver Police Department (DPD) responded to the scene and issued the student a summons for shoplifting.
On Thursday, Sept. 29, at 4:56 p.m., a Parking Enforcement Officer (PEO) discovered a vehicle in lot 503 displaying a lost or stolen parking permit. The vehicle was immobilized in order to meet with the owner. The unaffiliated owner of the vehicle contacted the officer at 7 p.m. The owner stated he was given the permit by the previous permit holder. The boot was removed from the vehicle and the parking permit was confiscated.
Facilities
On Wednesday, Sept. 28, at 2:21 p.m., Campus Safety responded to the Penrose Library regarding a small fire. The Denver Fire Department was on scene and stated that a contractor was fueling a washer when it caught on fire. The contractor was able to extinguish the fire with a fire extinguisher. No injuries or property damage were reported.
On Thursday, Sept. 29, at 1:35 p.m., Campus Safety noticed damage to the bollard and card reader at the entrance of parking lot “O” and asked for a Parking Enforcement Officer (PEO) to respond. Upon arrival, they discovered the card reader was working, but had sustained moderate damage.
Drugs and alcohol
On Wednesday, Sept. 28, at 12:38 a.m., Campus Safety responded to a call from the DPD regarding assistance with a student at the intersection of East Evans Avenue and South Race Street. Upon arrival, officers spoke with DPD and were told that the student was intoxicated and acting hostile towards DPD. The student was issued two citations and transported to Denver Cares by DPD.
On Thursday, Sept. 29, at 11:55 p.m., Campus Safety noticed a male and female student at DCB helping another male student walk down University. While interviewing the students, one of them fled the scene. One student was taken to Denver Cares by Denver Health and the other student was released.
On Friday, Sept. 30, at 12:52 a.m., Campus Safety responded to Centennial Towers regarding an intoxicated student. Upon arrival, they noticed that the Denver Fire Department (DFD) and Denver Health were already on scene. Due to the student’s high level of intoxication, Denver Health transported them to Porter Hospital.
On Friday, Sept. 30, at 1:43 a.m., Campus Safety responded to Johnson-MacFarlane Hall regarding an unconscious intoxicated student. Upon arrival, the officer noticed the student was unconscious and breathing. The officer requested that Denver Health respond to the scene. Due to the student’s high level of intoxication, Denver Health transported them to Porter Hospital.
On Friday, Sept. 30, at 1:54 a.m., Campus Safety noticed a male who was stumbling while he walked between Nelson and Nagel Hall. The officer contacted the male and learned that he was a student. The student admitted to drinking. The DPD arrived on scene and due to the student’s high level of intoxication, DPD transported the student to Denver Cares.
On Sunday, Oct. 2, at 2:25 a.m., Campus Safety observed a student who was visibly intoxicated near Nelson Hall. When the officer attempted to contact the student, the student fled the scene. When the student was apprehended, Campus Safety contacted the Denver Police Department (DPD) for assistance. DPD confiscated two false identifications from the student, issued them a citation for underage intoxication and transported them to Denver Cares.
Fraud
On Thursday, Sept. 29, at 5:05 p.m., Campus Safety responded to Nelson Hall regarding a fake ID. Upon arrival they learned that someone had found two IDs belonging to a student. One of the IDs was fake and was confiscated by the officer.
Traffic
On Wednesday, Sept. 28, at 4:40 p.m., a Parking Enforcement Officer (PEO) responded to lot 103 regarding a broken gate arm. Upon arrival, a staff member stated that while driving into the lot the gate arm was up and then came down. striking the DU-owned vehicle. No injuries or vehicle damage were reported.
Harassment
On Friday, Sept. 30, at 2:59 p.m., Campus Safety spoke with a student who came to the Campus Safety Center to report that their bicycle had been vandalized. The student relayed that sometime between noon and 1:30 p.m. on Sept. 28, an unknown person slashed the rear tire of their bike while it was parked near the Driscoll Student Center.
