Drunks cause trouble

On Thursday, Feb. 1, at 2:48 a.m., Campus Safety and Denver Police Department responded to the report of a disturbance at Centennial Halls. An on-scene investigation revealed an underage DU student and an underage unaffiliated party were intoxicated.

Denver Police Department determined the student could return to his residence hall room. The unaffiliated party was ejected from campus for one day. The Office of Citizenship and Community Standards will be notified.

Wallet snatched

On Friday, Feb. 2, at 1:25 p.m., a DU student reported a theft at Nelson Hall.

A Campus Safety report revealed a DU student left his wallet unsecured and unattended in the dining hall on Thursday, Feb. 1, at 6:30 p.m.

When he returned several minutes later to retrieve the wallet he discovered it was missing. The student was advised to file a report with Denver Police Department. A Campus Safety investigation is on-going.

“It was at a funny angle.”

On Friday, Feb. 2, at 11:28 p.m. a Campus Safety officer observed a traffic accident in parking lot E. An on-scene investigation revealed a DU staff member driving a University owned vehicle was backing out of a parking space when he struck a parked university-owned vehicle.

Minor damage and no injuries were reported. Risk Management will be notified.

Swimming accident

On Saturday, Feb. 3, at 2:43 p.m., Campus Safety and Denver Fire Department responded to the report of an injured party at the El Pomar Natatorium. An on-scene investigation revealed an unaffiliated party was swimming when she struck her ankle on an unidentified object in the pool and cut her ankle.

Paramedics bandaged the party’s ankle and determined the injury did not require additional medical treatment. Risk Management will be notified.

Dorm doors damaged

On Sunday, Feb. 4, at 5:47 a.m., Campus Safety responded to the report of vandalism at Centennial Halls. An on-scene investigation revealed person(s) unknown shattered the glass windowpane of the east doors.

Facilities Management was contacted to repair the door. A Campus Safety investigation is on-going.

Rock vandalism

On Sunday, Feb. 4, at 6:19 a.m., a Campus Safety officer was conducting a routine patrol when he discovered vandalism at Margery Reed Hall. An on-scene investigation revealed person(s) unknown threw a rock at the south facing doors. Facilities Management was contacted to repair the damaged windowpane. A Campus Safety investigation is on-going.

Student passed out, left water overflowing

On Sunday, Feb. 4, at 8:42 p.m. Campus Safety and Denver Fire Department responded to the report of a party who may be injured at Centennial Towers.

An on-scene investigation revealed water was overflowing from a tub room on the fourth floor.

After making repeated requests of the occupant to open the door with no response, Denver Fire Department forced the door open. An underage DU student was found unconscious on the floor.

Denver Fire Department roused the student, who reported he had been drinking but did not require medical treatment. Facilities Management was contacted to repair the door. The Office of Citizenship and Community Standards will be notified.

Laptop stolen

On Monday, Feb. 5, at 8:48 a.m. a DU staff member reported a theft at the Hotel, Restaurant and Tourism Management building.

A Campus Safety report revealed a staff member left a university-owned laptop in an unsecured office on Friday, Feb. 2, at 8:45 p.m.

When he returned to work on Monday, Feb. 5, at 8:48 a.m., he discovered the laptop was missing. A report was filed with Denver Police Department. A Campus Safety investigation is on-going.

Gate arms stolen

On Monday, Feb. 5, at 5:30 p.m. a DU staff member reported vandalism in parking lot N.

Video surveillance revealed two unidentified males broke the gate arms on level 2 of the parking structure on Saturday, Feb. 3, at 1:50 a.m.

The males picked up the gate arms and carried them into Nelson Hall. A Campus Safety investigation is ongoing.

Backpack ransacked

On Monday, Feb. 5, at 10:05 p.m., Campus Safety responded to the report of a theft at the Performing Arts Center.

An on-scene investigation revealed a DU student left his backpack unsecured and unattended on a table in the Joy Burns Plaza at 9:15 p.m.

He returned at 9:55 p.m. and discovered personal electronic equipment was missing from the backpack. A Campus Safety investigation is ongoing.

Tree damaged

On Wednesday, Feb. 7, at 7:14 a.m., a DU staff member reported damage to University property in the 2400 block of S. Race Street.

A Campus Safety report revealed the staff member observed an unidentified party wrap a cable around a university- owned tree.

The cable caused irreparable damage. A Campus Safety investigation is ongoing.

“…because I got high.”

On Friday, Feb. 9, at 3:35 a.m. Campus Safety responded to the report of the odor of marijuana coming from a residence hall room at Johnson-McFarlane Hall.

An on-scene investigation revealed six DU students admitted using marijuana. Campus Safety confiscated the drugs and drug paraphernalia.

The Office of Citizenship and Community Standards will be notified.
