Theft
On Thursday, May 10, 2012 at 6:32 p.m., Campus Safety responded to a call from an unaffiliated party regarding a theft at the Ritchie Center. The unaffiliated party said they had left their wallet unattended and unsecured in a locker room at the Ritchie Center, and when they opened the wallet, they found that $140 in cash was missing. The unaffiliated party was advised to file an additional report with the Denver Police Department (DPD).
On Thursday, May 10, at 5:31 p.m., Campus Safety responded to a call from a staff member regarding a theft near the Evans Memorial Chapel. Officers arrived at the scene and spoke with the staff member who explained their electronic reading device was missing and they had last seen it on a bench near the chapel. The staff member was advised to file an additional report with DPD.
On Sunday, May 13, at 1:32 a.m., Campus Safety responded to a call from a DU student in Johnson-McFarlane Hall regarding vandalism to their residential room. Upon arrival at the scene, officers observed that the student’s clothing had been strewn about the room, their mattress had been thrown on the floor and the student reported $100 cash had been taken from their belongings. It was unclear if the room had been secured prior to the incident. Disposition pending report review.
Medical
On Tuesday, May 8, at 11:27 a.m., Campus Safety responded to a call from a faculty member in Sturm Hall regarding a student in need of medical assistance. Officers responded to the scene and remained with the student until paramedics arrived and transported them to Porter Hospital
On Wednesday, May 9, at 10:35 a.m., Campus Safety responded to a call from a student regarding a second student in need of medical assistance at Johnson-McFarlane Hall. Officers made contact with the students in question and called paramedics for further assistance. The student in need of medical attention was transported to Swedish Hospital by paramedics.
On Wednesday, May 9, at 4:16 p.m., while on routine patrol, a DCS officer observed the Denver Fire Department (DFD) at the Shwayder Art Building. The officer stopped and spoke with DFD personnel who stated that they were on the scene responding to a 911 call regarding a student in need of medical assistance. The student was evaluated and released by DFD.
Drugs and alcohol
On Tuesday, May 8, at 11:58 p.m., Campus Safety responded to a call from a staff member in the Ritchie Center regarding a group of students who were consuming alcohol and refusing to dispose of it in the Joy Burns Arena. Officers responded to the scene and contacted four students who were all extremely uncooperative. DPD was called to the scene. Two of the students were transported to Denver Cares by DPD.
On Thursday, May 10, at 9:59 p.m., Campus Safety responded to a call from Housing and Residential Education (HRE) staff regarding the odor of marijuana emanating from a student’s residential room in Johnson-McFarlane Hall. Officers responded to the scene and were admitted to the room where they contacted five students and one unaffiliated party. Within the room, officers found and confiscated a large amount of alcohol, marijuana and drug paraphernalia.
On Thursday, May 10, at 11:31 p.m., Campus Safety responded to a call from a staff member regarding a wallet which had been found in the Ritchie Center. Officers picked up the wallet and searched its contents to identify the owner. While searching the contents, officers found an identification card which they suspect is used by a student to illegally gain access to alcohol.
On Saturday, May 12, at 7:51 a.m., while on routine patrol, a Campus Safety officer observed a student who was intoxicated and unresponsive in Driscoll North. Officers were able to awaken the student, however, due to their high level of intoxication, DPD was contacted. DPD transported the student to Denver Cares.
On Satruday, May 12, at 7:24 p.m., Campus Safety responded to a call from Housing and Residential Education (HRE) staff regarding an unaffiliated party in need of medical assistance. Upon arrival at the scene, officers spoke with the unaffiliated party and called for paramedic assistance. Paramedics arrived on scene and determined the cause of illness was overconsumption of alcohol. Paramedics contacted DPD who arrived on scene and transported the Unaffiliated Party to Denver Cares.
On Saturday, May 12, at 9:01 p.m., while on routine patrol, a Campus Safety officer observed a Denver Fire Department (DFD) truck parked in front of the Delta Gamma sorority house. The officer stopped and spoke with DFD personnel who stated they were assiting a student who had consumed a large amount of alcohol and Denver Cares had been called to the scene.
On Sunday, May 13, at 5:43 a.m. while on routine patrol, a Campus Safety officer observed two students near the 1900 block of East Iliff Avenue inotxicated and involved in a physical altercation. The officer contacted the students and called for assistance from Denver Cares. Denver Cares arrived on the scene and transported the students to their facility.
On Sunday, May 13, at 2:15 a.m., Campus Safety responded to a call from HRE staff regarding an intoxicated student in Centennial Halls. Officers spoke with the student in question who admitted to the consumption of alcohol. Denver Cares arrived on the scene and transported the student to their facility.
