Embezzled money
On Friday, May 9, a Denver police investigation determined a DU staff member embezzled $10,000 to $15,000 from DU. Denver police arrested the staff member.
Fallen tree
On Saturday, May 10, at 12:44 p.m., a DU staff member reported a tree branch fell on a vehicle parked and unattended in Lot 123, west of John Greene Hall.
Campus Safety responded and completed an investigation. There were no injuries.
Hit and run
On Sunday, May 11, at about 3:45 a.m., Campus Safety reported a parked and unattended vehicle in Lot H-1, south of Cherrington Hall, had been struck by an unidentified vehicle. Campus Safety investigation is ongoing.
False alarm
On Friday, May 9, at 1:33 p.m., a fire alarm was activated at Nelson Hall. Campus Safety and Denver Fire Department responded.
A Denver Fire Department investigation determined the alarm was caused by illegal fireworks that were set off in a residence suite. There were no injuries.
Illegal searching
On Monday, May 12, at about 8:25 a.m., a DU staff member reported that on May 9, two unidentified males were in her office searching her file cabinets.
The males left the office without incident or any loss. Campus Safety investigation is ongoing.
Gate with own mind
On Monday, May 12, at about 1:30 p.m., a DU staff member reported the gate arm to Lot H-2, south of Cherrington Hall, came down on his personal vehicle as he was driving through the lot entrance causing minor damage to his vehicle.
Campus Safety completed an investigation. Parking Services was notified.
Student harassment
On Monday, May 12, at about 5:30 p.m., a DU student reported another student harassed her at Penrose Library. Campus Safety responded and completed an investigation.
Fire crackers
On Tuesday, May 13, at 12:33 a.m., an unaffiliated female reported unknown person(s) were throwing firecrackers from a residence window at Nelson Hall. Campus Safety investigation is ongoing.
Water balloon hit
On Wednesday, May 14, at 1:10 p.m., a DU student reported he was struck with a water balloon while walking in the 2200 block of South High Street.
There were no injuries. Campus Safety responded, completed an investigation, and advised the student to file a report with Denver police.
Couch on fire
On Thursday, May 15, at 2:21 a.m., Campus Safety reported a couch on fire in the 2100 block of South Columbine Street. Denver Fire Department responded and extinguished the fire. There were no injuries.
