Students of the University of Denver community have joined forces for a greater cause. Recently, DU’s custodial staff member, Santiago S. Rodriguez was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. Burdened by high medical bills, students created a fundraiser for Rodriguez.
The GoFundMe page was organized by members of the Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity. Within the page, Lambda’s members talk about their relationship with Rodriguez.
“Santiago is the custodial staff member assigned to the Lambda Chi Alpha house. He is an amazing person. Santiago has developed a relationship with many of the guys living in the house. He is lively and sits down to eat lunch with the house residents every day,” said Ethan Krumholz, the organizer of the GoFundMe.
Rodriguez has made a great impact on campus and is a valued member of the community. His prominent presence has influenced many students to donate in various ways. He fosters conversations with students and community members while working hard to complete his custodial tasks. Recently he was made the beneficiary of Lambda’s annual fundraiser.
“Santiago was recently diagnosed with Pancreatic Cancer and is struggling to pay his egregiously high medical bills. For this reason, we have decided to make Santiago the beneficiary for this year’s annual Mustache Bash. Please consider donating to help Santiago pay for life-saving treatment. Thank You!” said Krumholz.
