On May 8, the DU community received a series of Campus Safety alerts responding to reports of an active shooter in Nelson Hall. Campus Safety reported that there was no incident at Nelson or anywhere else on DU’s campus. The alerts ended by Campus Safety stating they were continuing to investigate active shooter reports with the Denver Police.

Shortly after their initial statement, Campus Safety sent out another alert saying that no shots were fired and there was no active shooter incident on DU’s campus.

This comes only one day after 18-year-old Kendrick Castillo died and eight others were injured at STEM School Highlands Ranch in a school shooting.
