In an email sent to university students, staff and faculty on Friday, DU Chancellor Robert Coombe announced that Elrie LaBrent Chrite will serve as the next dean of the Daniels College of Business (DCB).
According to the email, Chrite will officially begin his position effective on August 1 of this year.
“Brent Chrite joins the Daniels College at the University of Denver at a particularly opportune time,” Coombe said in the email. He said the college would begin pursuing a new comprehensive five–year plan for the school as the current initiative draws to a close. “We are convinced that Brent is exactly the right person to lead this initiative,” he said.
This will be the second time Chrite has served as dean of a business school, coming to DU from serving as the dean of the Montclair State University School of Business. He as also served as associate dean at the University of Arizona Eller College of Management.
The university has been searching for a new dean throughout the academic year after previous dean Christine Riordan resigned to accept the position of provost at the University of Kentucky. Charles Patti has been serving as the DCB dean in the interim.
