Theft

Monday, Oct. 21, 2013 at 4:36 p.m. – DCS responded to a call regarding the theft of a cell phone from the Iliff School of Theology. Upon arrival at the scene, officers spoke with an Iliff staff member who stated that they had left the phone unattended and unsecured for approximately half an hour and that when they returned, the phone was gone. A preliminary review of surveillance footage revealed a suspect in the case.

Tuesday, Oct. 22, 2013 at 2:17 p.m. – DCS responded to a call regarding the theft of personal items from the Ritchie Center. Upon arrival at the scene, officers spoke with a staff member who stated that they had left their wallet, keys, and sunglasses in an unsecured locker for approximately four hours and that when they returned, the items were gone.

Thursday, Oct. 24, 2013 at 4:11 p.m. – DCS responded to a call regarding the theft of personal items from Centennial Halls. Upon arrival at the scene, officers spoke with a student who stated that their roommate had taken many of their personal items and left them unattended in a hallway, during which time several items were stolen.

Friday, Oct. 25, 2013 at 12:07 p.m. – DCS took a report from an Iliff School of Theology student regarding the theft of their bicycle. The student stated that they had left the bicycle unsecured and unattended on a balcony at Schlessman Hall from 10/18/13 through 10/21/13 and that when they returned to retrieve it, it was gone.

Saturday, October 26, 2013 at 5:30 p.m. – DCS responded to a call from a Sodexo employee regarding the theft of cash from Centennial Halls. Upon arrival at the scene, officers spoke with the Sodexo employee in question who stated that they had hidden the cash in an unsecured area at approximately 9:00 a.m. and that when they returned to retrieve it at 2:20 p.m., they found it was gone.

Sunday, October 27, 2013 at 2:46 p.m. – DCS responded to a call regarding the theft of items from a vehicle in parking lot 103. Upon arrival at the scene, officers spoke with an unaffiliated party who stated that they had left their vehicle parked in the lot from approximately 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and that when they returned, they found that an unknown person had gone through it and taken various items including credit cards and change. The unaffiliated party was advised to file an additional report with the Denver Police Department (DPD).

Medical Assist

Monday, Oct. 21, 2013 at 8:52 p.m. – While on routine patrol in Sturm Hall, a DCS officer was stopped by a student who stated that a second student was in need of medical assistance. Officers contacted the student in question who was treated by paramedics and transported to Porter Hospital.

Tuesday, Oct. 22, 2013 at 9:50 a.m. – DCS responded to a call regarding a student in need of medical assistance in Sturm Hall. Upon arrival at the scene, officers contacted the paramedics who transported the student to Porter Hospital.

Thursday, Oct. 24, 2013 at 3:12 p.m. – DCS responded to a call regarding an unaffiliated party being treated by Denver Fire Department (DFD) and paramedics in Margery Reed Hall. The unaffiliated party was transported by paramedics to Porter Hospital.

Friday, Oct. 25, 2013 at 1:59 a.m. – DCS responded to a call regarding a staff member in need of medical assistance. Officers responded to the scene and spoke with the staff member in question who refused paramedic attention.

Friday, Oct. 25, 2013 at 9:28 p.m. – DCS responded to a call regarding an unaffiliated party in need of medical assistance in lot 312. Upon arrival at the scene, officers spoke with the unaffiliated party and provided assistance until paramedics arrived and transported them to Porter Hospital.

Sunday, Oct. 27, 2013 at 8:32 p.m. – DCS responded to a call regarding a student in need of medical assistance in the Ritchie Center. Upon arrival at the scene, officers spoke with the student in question who declined further attention from paramedics.

Narcotics

Wednesday, Oct. 23, 2013 at 2:06 a.m. – DCS responded to a call regarding a student under the influence of drugs in Centennial Halls. Officers responded to the scene, contacted the student in question and called for paramedic assistance. Paramedics transported the student in question to Porter Hospital.

Wednesday, Oct. 23, 2013 at 5:21 p.m. – While on routine patrol, a DCS officer observed the odor of marijuana emanating from a residential room in Centennial Halls. As they observed the odor, a student exited the room in question. Officers contacted the student and were admitted to the room in question where they found marijuana, drug paraphernalia and alcohol.

Thursday, Oct. 24, 2013 at 2:29 a.m. – While on routine patrol, DCS officers observed the odor of marijuana emanating from a residential room in Centennial Halls. The officers were admitted to the room in question where they contacted two students who admitted to having consumed marijuana and relinquished possession of drug paraphernalia.

Thursday, Oct. 24, 2013 at 10:31 p.m. – DCS responded to a call regarding the odor of marijuana emanating from a residential room in Johnson-McFarlane Hall. Upon arrival at the scene, officers spoke with two student, one of whom relinquished possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia to officers.

Forgery

Thursday, Oct. 24, 2013 at 5:27 p.m. – DCS responded to a call regarding a found driver’s license in Centennial Halls. Upon arrival at the scene, officers took possession of the license in question and found that it was forged and belonged to a DU student.

Sunday, Oct. 27, 2013 at 1:48 p.m. – While on routine patrol, a DCS officer was stopped by an unaffiliated party who relinquished possession of a found wallet. The unaffiliated party stated that the wallet was found near the intersection of East Warren Avenue and South Josephine Street. Upon inspection of the contents of the wallet to identify its owner, officers found a false identification belonging to a student.

Miscellaneous

Tuesday, Oct. 22, 2013 at 1:45 a.m. – DCS responded to a call regarding damage to university property in the Ritchie Center. Upon arrival at the scene, officers spoke with a staff member who stated that they had found a plaque that had been damaged. It is unknown if the damage was intentional.

Wednesday, Oct. 23, 2013 at 12:41 p.m. – While on routine patrol, a Parking Enforcement Officer (PEO) contacted a volunteer in parking lot 306 to confirm the status of a disability placard that they were displaying on their vehicle. An investigation revealed that the placard had been issued to another party. The PEO confiscated the placard.

Wednesday, Oct. 23, 2013 at 4:37 p.m. – DCS responded to a call regarding an unaffiliated party who had misplaced their cell phone in the Mary Reed building. Officers assisted the unaffiliated party with looking for the phone in its last known location but were unable to find it.

Saturday, Oct. 26, 2013 at 10:57 p.m. – DCS responded to a call regarding a student who had physically assaulted a Housing and Residential Education (HRE) staff member. Upon arrival at the scene, officers spoke with the HRE staff member who stated that they had attempted to contact the student in question due to a noise violation and that the student had reacted by pushing the HRE staff member with their shoulder.

Sunday, October 27, 2013 at 12:52 a.m. – While on routine patrol, a DCS officer observed two students who were in a physical altercation just outside of Centennial Halls. Officers stopped the altercation and spoke with both students who were highly intoxicated. Due to the intoxication levels of both students and to their resistance to cooperate with officers, DPD was called to the scene. Both students were cited for Public Fighting and transported to Denver County Jail.
