Sometimes, some of the simplest April Fool’s day pranks are the most effective; for me, a few simple tweaks to my alarm clock were enough to leave me flustered and convinced I was late for school…at 3:00 in the morning.

I awoke with a start, with my alarm clock blaring in my ears. It was one of those sluggish mornings, and I had to drag myself from the warmth of my bed. I was exhausted, and felt like I had just shut my eyes a few moments before. Little did I know, that was exactly the case.

As an attempt at revenge for all of the pranks played on her on April Fool’s days past, my sister snuck into my room and changed the time on my alarm clock so that it would go off hours before it needed to.

The prank worked exactly as she had planned; I dragged my self out of bed, took a shower, and got dressed and ready for school in a hurry. In the kitchen, as I was just about to make myself my breakfast, I noticed the time displayed on the stove for the first time all morning. It read “3:00 AM”.

It was at that moment that it dawned on me; it was April Fools day. Hopefully, this year I have learned my lesson, and will be sure to be more prepared.
