I constantly seem to be in plumes of smoke outside the buildings on campus.
There has been imperial data and the Surgeon General’s warning on cigarettes since before any of us were even conceived, much less even thought about.
Why people choose to smoke is completely beyond me. All I can offer is my condolences.
That being said, you should respect those who are tolerating your irrational habit. DU smokers dodged a bullet when the proposed campus smoking ban failed when brought before the AUSA Senate last fall.
The proposed ban was a clear message that the ability to smoke on this campus is a privilege, not a right. Please don’t abuse it.
Theoretically, smokers are expected to smoke at least 25 feet away from campus buildings. Last time I checked, standing just outside the door of a building is not 25 feet from the building.
You shouldn’t have to make your peers wonder whether you will be alive to make it to the 40th college reunion.
Times have changed. Smoking is no longer socially accepted or cool.
Smoking burdens everyone, physically and mentally.
Eventually, everyone who pays for health care will be affected because of the health problems related to smoking.
Smoking is in a class of its own and more selfish than hard drugs or alcohol abuse combined.
The effects extend beyond the users themselves and harm literally everyone with every drag.
