If you frequent the Border, Starbucks or Bruegger’s on South University Boulevard you might have noticed that a new restaurant has moved in-Jason’s Thai Asian Bistro and Sushi.

Open from 11 a.m.-10 p.m. Mon. through Thu., 11 a.m.-midnight Fri. and Sat. and noon-10 p.m. on Sundays, DU students can enjoy the great cuisine and atmosphere almost anytime during the week.

There is no discount for DU students, but the food is worth it. Main dishes are no more than $13.95. Sushi ranges from $3.50 to $9.25. Also, there is free delivery within a four mile radius of the restaurant, with a $10 minimum purchase.

Jason’s Thai has a uniquely traditional yet modern feel. The décor is refreshing with yellow walls, Formica table tops, hip light fixtures and a sushi bar which customers can dine at.

The food, however, is the real amazement at this new restaurant. The food is fresh and not over-cooked in grease or drenched in sauce.

The pot stickers appetizer can be lightly pan-fried or steamed and is filled with pork and vegetables served with a vinegar soy sauce. This is a must to start your meal at Jason’s Thai.

The wonton soup is the best around. The soup has pork wontons served in chicken broth with fresh, crisp carrots, pea pods and zucchini.

The main dishes are fresh changes on classic Asian cuisine. Sweet and sour chicken, sesame chicken, lo mein, Thai curries and sizzling pepper steak are just a few.

Alissa Thyfault, a sophomore, said that the sesame chicken had “just enough [spice] to make you want to eat more”.

The Caterpillar Roll is a great surprise for sushi lovers and new-comers alike. It consists of eel and cucumber wrapped in avocado. The roll is even displayed like a caterpillar with eyes made of sauce and antenna made from sprouts.

For a new ice cream experience order the mochi, which is vanilla and strawberry ice cream wrapped in light dough and frozen then drizzled with chocolate.

Go to Jason’s Thai for a date night or just a casual dinner with friends. The service is welcoming, food is fantastic and atmosphere is cozy.
