Cocktail benefit reception

A cocktail reception will be held downtown at Zengo Restaurant in Riverfront Park today from 5-7 p.m. to benefit the Denver Public School’s A-Z Fund, a grant program for individual schools.

DU students involved in the planning invite the campus and community to participate in the event.

Lamont School of Music concert

The Lamont School of Music is hosting a black tie gala concert showcasing the school’s best students.

There will be a champagne reception before the concert and an opportunity to greet the performers afterwards. The concert will be held tonight in Hamilton Recital Hall from 7:30-9 p.m.

Interfaith

The University Chaplain and the Interfaith Student Alliance will host an interfaith discussion led by Cassie Meyer and Naomi Greenspan of Chicago-based Youth Core.

They will highlight their unique method of interfaith dialogue and service. The discussion will be held tonight at 7:30 p.m. in the Cyber Café.

DCB campus golf tournament

The Daniels College of Business annual campus golf tournament will take place tomorrow from 4-8 p.m.

The tournament will begin on the lawn in front of Daniels and will be played on an eight-hole course around campus with golf clubs and tennis balls. The cost to compete is $5 for an individual or $20 for a team of four.

Prizes for winning teams will include Rockies tickets, rounds of golf and gift certificates.

Final Buddhism

The SGI Student Association will host a final discussion on Buddhism Thursday at 7 p.m. in the Commerce Room in the Driscoll Student Center.

The discussion will explore how Buddhists view their environment and circumstances. The event is free and open to the DU community.

Midnight

Masquerade

Midnight Masquerade, Campus Crusade for Christ’s formal which benefits Project Homeless Connect, will be held at the Grant-Humphreys Mansion on Thursday at 8 p.m.

Tickets are $15 per person and $25 per couple and are available every Wednesday night at The Well. Tickets can be purchased online at http://www.midnightmasqueradeball.com.

‘Melancholy Play’ opening weekend

A production of “Melancholy Play – A Contemporary Farce” will be performed at the Newman Center for the Performing Arts this Thursday, Friday and Saturday at 8 p.m.

It will also be performed on Friday, May 23 and Saturday, May 24 at 8 p.m. There will be a final show on Sunday, May 25 at 2 p.m. Admission is free to the DU community opening weekend.

General admission tickets for adults will be $15 and will be available at the Newman Center Box Office.

Poetry slam

There will be a poetry slam at Sidelines Pub in Driscoll on Monday, May 19 from 7-9 p.m. Cash prizes will be awarded to the best pieces, and the first ten students that sign up to read will also receive prizes.

Lives the Code nominations

Nominations for Lives the Code role models can now be submitted online at www.du.edu/ccs. Nominees should be students that make decisions that uphold both the DU Code of Student Conduct and the Honor Code. Prizes will be available to all participants at the May Days events May 19-21.

Nominees that are recognized as Live the Code role models will receive gifts and be entered into a drawing for larger prizes.
