music fest

The Flobots, Kinetix, RJD2, The Foot and Ubuntu will perform for May Days Music Fest, a free concert on Driscoll Lawn from 3-10 p.m. on Thursday. The concert is sponsored by DUPB, Greek Life, KVDU and AUSA Senate.

ZBT dance

marathon

The first annual Dance Marathon to benefit the Children’s Miracle Network will be hosted by Zeta Beta Tau faternity Friday in the Driscoll Ballroom from 10 p.m.-4 a.m. The cost is $5 at the door.

‘Melancholy Play’ opening weekend

A production of “Melancholy Play – A Contemporary Farce” will be performed at the Newman Center for the Performing Arts this Friday and Saturday at 8 p.m. and Sunday at 2 p.m.

Admission is free to the DU community opening weekend. General admission tickets for adults will be $15 and will be available at the Newman Center Box Office.

Super smash

tennis tourney

The Vietnamese Student Association’s second Annual Super Smash Tennis Tournament will take place Saturday and Sunday from 12-8 p.m. at the Stapleton Tennis Pavillon.

Participants can play singles, doubles or mixed doubles. Entry costs $25 for singles and $40 for doubles, with all proceeds benefiting charity.

There will be free food, T-shirts, trophies for the winners in each division and a $5 discount for DU students.

Applications for

council

Sustainability Council applications from DU staff and students will be accepted until Monday.

The council has three vacancies: one for a staff member and two for students. Students serve on the council for as long as they are enrolled. Staff members generally serve for two years.

The council will advise the university administration and keep track of the school’s progress toward becoming a carbon neutral institution.

Applications should include a 300-word personal statement and resume and should be e-mailed to Mary Ann Shessler in the Office of the Provost.

Mommy mixer

The next DU mommy mixer will be Tuesday, May 27 from 6:30-8 p.m. at Rock the Cradle in Denver. The event allows students to meet families in the Denver area that are looking for summer babysitters.

The event is free, but interested students must RSVP and submit a resume online at www.mommymixer.com.

Lecture series by eyewitness

The Institute for the Study of Israel in the Middle East will bring Zipporah Porath, an eyewitness to the establishment of Israel, to DU for a lecture series.

Porath will speak at a lunch lecture in Cherrington Hall on Friday, May 30 at 12 p.m.

6th international

symposium

The 6th annual international symposium will be hosted in the HRTM building in room 229, Friday, May 30 through Saturday, May 31 by GSIS, the Center for China Studies at National Taiwan University and the Center for China-US Cooperation.

This year’s focus is the sustainability of China’s development model.
