Injury at Fitness Center
On Tuesday, Jan. 8, at 3:45 p.m. Campus Safety responded to the report of an injured party at the Coors Fitness Center. An on-scene investigation revealed a DU student injured his ankle during a basketball game. The student declined medical assistance. Risk Management will be notified.
Accident in parking lot
On Wednesday, Jan. 9, at 10:30 a.m. a DU student reported of a hit-and-run traffic accident in parking lot 311 near the Ritchie Center. A Campus Safety report revealed the student parked her personal vehicle in the lot at 9 a.m. When she moved her vehicle to parking lot 302 near the Driscoll Center at 10:20 a.m. she discovered the minor damage to the bumper. There are no suspects at this time. The student was advised to file a report with Denver Police Department. Risk Management will be notified.
Harassing text message
On Wednesday, Jan. 9, at 1 p.m. a DU student reported harassment. A Campus Safety report revealed the DU student received inappropriate text messages from another DU student.
The Office of Citizenship and Community Standards and the Office Gender Violence and Education will notified.
Severe nose bleed
On Wednesday, Jan. 9, at 6:45 p.m. Campus Safety responded to the report of an ill party at the Cavalier Apartments. An on-scene investigation revealed a DU student suffering from a severe nose bleed. The student declined medical assistance and advised she would seek treatment at the Health and Counseling Center on Jan. 10, 2008.
Marijuana bust
On Wednesday, Jan. 9, at 10:23 p.m. Campus Safety responded to the report of the odor of marijuana coming from a residence hall room at Centennial Halls. An on-scene investigation revealed a DU student admitted smoking marijuana off campus but denied having contraband in her room. The Office of Citizenship and Community Standards will be notified.
Gates Field House
injury
On Friday, Jan. 11, at 5:25 p.m. Campus Safety responded to the report of an injured party at the Gates Field House. An on-scene investigation revealed a DU student injured his ankle during a soccer game. Medical assistance was declined. The student advised he would be transported to Porter Hospital by an unaffiliated friend driving a personal vehicle.
Laptop theft
On Friday, Jan. 11, at 6:07 p.m. a Campus Safety officer was conducting a routine patrol in the Driscoll Center when she observed unsecured and unattended laptops near Jazzman’s Café. Campus Safety attempted to collect the laptops for safekeeping when an unaffiliated arrived and reported the laptops belonged to a group using a meeting room nearby. Campus Safety informed the party the laptops must be secured to prevent theft and completed a report.
Wallet theft
On Friday, Jan. 11, at 2:42 p.m. Campus Safety responded to the report of a theft in the 2000 block of S. Buchtel Boulevard. An on-scene investigation revealed at 2:20 p.m. that day a student left his wallet on top of his moving vehicle which was originally parked in parking lot “C” near Centennial Halls. A City of Denver Parking Enforcement Officer discovered
the wallet at 2:40 p.m. on S. Buchtel Boulevard.
Students trapped in elevator in Halls
On Saturday, Jan. 12 at 5:27 p.m. Campus Safety and the Denver Police Department responded to the report of a party trapped in an elevator at Centennial Halls. An on-scene
investigation revealed a DU student was in the elevator. The Denver Fire Department released the student. No injuries were reported.
Robbery and assault
On Sunday, Jan. 13, at 1:34 a.m. Campus Safety and the Denver Police Department responded to the report of a robbery near Driscoll Lawn. An on-scene investigation revealed a DU student was walking near the Alumni House at approximately 1:10 a.m. when he was assaulted by two unidentified males who demanded his wallet. Medical assistance was declined. The suspects were described as white males in their late 20s, both with heavy build and wearing dark green or blue hooded sweatshirts and dark pants. The suspects reportedly wore the hoods of their sweatshirts over their heads during the robbery and were last seen fleeing eastbound toward South University Boulevard on East Asbury Avenue.
