Denver garners one of the most prolific local music scenes west of the Mississippi. It is home to musicians and singers of all genres and styles. While this is usually a good thing, in some cases, great bands get overlooked.
Such is the case with Roger, Roll. According to the band’s MySpace page, the four-piece band is a “solo operation turned team effort, Roger,Roll is a pop/indie/shoegaze/folk/space rock/band from Denver that somehow resembles the explosion of a star.”
As odd as the description sounds, it is surprisingly accurate. Sunday night at the hi-dive, Roger,Roll cranked out truly stellar tunes.
Roger,Roll fuses complex guitar progressions with hypnotic baselines. Eric Peterson’s vocals resonate with a depth and passion rarely found in such young bands.
Go online to myspace.com/rogerroll to listen to some samples of the music. I especially recommend “The Essence of Things.”
Lookout for Roger,Roll shows at local venues because this band is not one to miss.
