I-25 accident

On Thursday, Jan. 4, at 2:30 p.m. a DU staff member reported a traffic accident that occurred near Broadway and I-25.

A Campus Safety report revealed the staff member was driving a university leased vehicle that struck a vehicle belonging to an unaffiliated party. Minor damage and a possible neck injury were reported. Risk Management has been notified.

Muggers on campus

On Thursday, Jan. 4, at 6:05 p.m. a DU student reported a robbery in the 2200 block of East Evans Avenue. A Campus Safety report revealed the incident occurred earlier that morning at 1 a.m.

The student reported he was approached by three unidentified males who demanded and took his personal belonging. Campus Safety and Denver Police Department investigations are ongoing.

Bad parking lot driving

On Friday, Jan. 5, at 9:33 p.m., a DU student was contacted in the C parking lot, north of Centennial Halls for careless driving. The student was issued a warning and left the area.

Mowing the Devil’s green

On Sunday, Jan. 7, at 12:46 a.m., Campus Safety and HRE were notified that a smell of marijuana was coming from a room in Johnson-McFarlane Hall. Upon arrival, a DU student was contacted and admitted to smoking marijuana. Drug paraphernalia and a small amount of marijuana were confiscated. This case will be referred to Citizenship and Community Standards for disposition.

Dude goes mental

On Sunday, Jan. 7, at 2:34 a.m., Campus Safety was called to the front desk of Centennial Halls on the report that a man had run past the desk and up the stairs.

Upon arrival, Campus Safety contacted the unaffiliated male. Through questioning of the male, it was determined that Denver Police Department should be called. Denver Police Department responded and took the male into custody and transported him to Denver Health and Medical Center for a mental health evaluation.

Parent showdown

On Sunday, Jan. 7, at 2:40 p.m., Campus Safety was called to the Joy Burns Arena on the report of parents fighting. Upon arrival, Campus Safety made contact with an unaffiliated male who stated that the conflict was resolved because he chose to leave the area. A search of the area for the other parent met with negative results.

Caught with contraband

On Monday, Jan. 8, at 12:08 a.m. Campus Safety responded to a noise complaint coming from a residence hall room at Nelson Hall. An on-scene investigation revealed four DU students were in possession of stolen property, drug paraphernalia and other contraband. Campus Safety confiscated the contraband and completed a report.

The Office of Citizenship and Community Standards will be notified.

Slashed tires

On Monday, Jan. 8, at 9 a.m., Campus Safety responded to the report of vandalism in parking lot R. An on-scene investigation revealed person(s) unknown slashed the front tires of a university-owned vehicle. The damage occurred between Jan. 2, and Jan. 8. A Campus Safety investigation is ongoing.

Pot sets off alarm

On Monday, Jan. 8, at 4:30 p.m. Campus Safety and Denver Fire Department responded to a fire alarm at Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity house. An on-scene investigation revealed no smoke or fire was present. Campus Safety determined the alarm was caused by DU student who was smoking marijuana. The Office of Citizenship and Community Standards will be notified.

Ankle injury

On Tuesday, Jan. 9, at 9:47 a.m., a DU staff member reported an injury at the Boettcher Center East. A Campus Safety report revealed the staff member slipped and fell in the lobby on Monday, Jan. 8, at 8:30 a.m. The staff member’s reported an ankle injury and transported herself to an unidentified facility for medical treatment. Risk Management has been notified.

Car accident

On Tuesday, Jan. 9, at 8 p.m., Campus Safety, Denver Police Department and Denver Fire Department responded to the report of a traffic accident in the 1900 block of East Asbury Avenue.

An on-scene investigation revealed a DU staff member was driving westbound in her personal vehicle when she was rear ended by a DU student driving a personal vehicle. The staff member reported neck pain and she was transported to Porter Hospital for medical treatment. Minor damage and no other injuries were reported. Campus Safety completed a report.

Drug overdose

On Wednesday, Jan. 10, at 2:35 a.m. ,Campus Safety and Denver Fire Department responded to the report of an ill party at Centennial Halls. An on-scene investigation revealed a DU student was unresponsive.Paramedics administered on scene treatment for an apparent drug overdose. The student was transported to Porter Hospital medical treatment. The Office of Citizenship and Community Standards will be notified.

Sodexdo collision

On Wednesday, Jan. 10, at 3:30 p.m., Campus Safety responded to the report of a traffic accident in the 1900 block of East Iliff Avenue. An on-scene investigation revealed a Sodexho staff member driving a university-owned vehicle struck two parked vehicles.

Minor damage and no injuries were reported. Campus Safety contacted the owner of one of the vehicles who was identified as a DU student. Campus Safety contact information was left on the other vehicle. Risk Management will be notified.
