Want to go to high-quality hockey games for free? Check out the men’s club hockey team. With a record of 10-3-1, the team is positioned well to qualify for the national title for the second year in a row.
Earlier this season, the team had a game that will go down in DU Club Sports history.
All DU players, except for goalies, registered a point in a game versus Utah Valley State College at the end of fall quarter.
This is just one highlight of an already successful season.
The hockey team, which finished ninth at last years American Collegiate Hockey Association National Championship, is setting the stage for increasing their ranking.
This year’s national title will be fought for at Colorado State University March 7-10.
In addition to being a highly competitive team, players still enjoy the thrill of the game.
“I like playing on the team because it is a great group of guys, competitive hockey, and a lot of fun on and off the ice,” said team captain Adam Becker, who is ranked 8th in the nation for goals.
Hockey was a component of what he looked for in a college prior to coming to DU.
“The game of hockey is something that I have grown up playing in Minnesota,” said Becker. “Hockey has been a big part of my life, and playing here at DU has been a lot of fun. I am glad I am still playing.”
The next upcoming home hockey game is Thursday at 10:30 p.m. in the Ritchie Center versus California State University-Long Beach. Admission is free.
Men’s Club Hockey is one of the many competitive club sports at DU.
“Club sports is a great organization here at DU because it is a very high level of competition [in hockey] but gives you the freedom of being a college student-athlete,” states Becker.
