Mock trial
This program is a two-hour mock trial where student jurors decide whether fictitious high school student Patrick White is guilty of hate crimes under Colorado’s ethnic intimidation statute.
The program allows participants to discuss issues surrounding tolerance in their communities, and suggests ways to prevent the spread of hatred and hate crimes.
The ‘Hate Violence Task Force Experience’ will be held today, from 12 -1 p.m. in room 165 of the law school.

Social problems in Iran
DU Law Amnesty International and the Campus Coalition Against Trafficking present an informational documentary regarding one of Iran’s biggest social problems: prostitution. The documentary is titled “Discussion with Ana Sami and ‘Epitaph’.” This film will show a small part of the conditions endured by prostitutes in Iran, and people will discuss those conditions in their own words. The documentary will be shown today, from 12 – 1 p.m. in room 155 of the law school.
Buddhism introduction

Immigration discussion
This week’s Hot Topic discussion will be about illegal immigration in Colorado. The disucssion will be led by Nancy Wadsworth, from the DU Department of Political Science. Author reading
A reading by Michael Friedman will be held Friday at 7:30 pm, in Sturm Hall 151. The reading is free and open to the general public.
Friedman will read from his first book of fiction, the comic novel “Martian Dawn,” which was released by Turtle Point in September.

The Moth Story Tour
This Sunday, 7:30 p.m. The Moth Story Tour will be held in the Newman Center for the Performing Arts. The Moth is simple, old-fashioned storytelling on thoroughly modern themes by wildly divergent raconteurs. Each show is cast with six carefully selected individuals, who have been coached to share tales from their lives ad times with no script and no notes.
The Moth national tour stars Jonathan Ames (author Wake Up, Sir!), Andy Borowitz (creator/ producer The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, and humorist, The New Yorker), other favorite storytellers from New York City including Denver’s own, James Braly (monologist and monogamist) Steve Osborne (New York City cop), Sherman “O.T.” Powell (a retired pick-pocket), as well as Coloradoan historian Patty Limerick and renowned wilderness photographer John Fielder.
‘You Throw Like a…’
“You Throw Like a Girl: Sports, Identity and Violence” will be held Monday all day. Don McPherson, formerly of the NFL’s Philadelphia Eagles and Houston Oilers, will speak to DU students on the issue of sports and gender identity, especially as it relates to violence against women.
McPherson has been working in violence prevention for many years and is co-founder and exectuive director of the Sports Leadership Institute at the Adelphi Institute. The event is free and open to the public Location: Davis Auditorium, Sturm Hall.
