“Little Miss Sunshine,” the runaway hit at the Sundance Film Festival that has captured the attention of audiences all around the nation, is said to be thought of as one of the year’s best.

This film is funny, witty, satirical and moving.

Directed by Jonathan Dayton and Valerie Faris, the film glows with a star-studded cast.

It includes Abigail Bresline (Signs), Greg Kinnear, Paul Dano, Alan Arkin, Toni Collette, and Steve Carell. They come together in this outrageously funny movie as the Hoover family.

The Hoover family represents a dysfunctional family trying to survive.

Richard, played by Kinnear, is a father obsessed with winning and image, but his career as a motivational speaker is failing. His wife Sheryl (Collette) is a neurotic mother who has almost reached the end of her rope while trying to hold her family together.

The grandfather (Arkin) is crude and a frequent drug user. He uses his own mistakes in life to give bad advice to his family members, including Sheryl’s brother Frank (Carell).

Frank is a notorious scholar who attempted suicide after a failed relationship with one of his male graduate students.

The 15-year-old son Dwayne (Dano) follows Nietzsche politics faithfully, despises everyone, including his whole family.

Moreover, he takes a vow of silence until he is able to join the Air Force Academy to become a pilot.

His 7-year-old sister Olive (Bresline) has a dream to make it in the Little Miss Sunshine Pageant, but begins to realize that she lacks the perfect body enabling her to win.

When Olive gets the call to participate in the highly competitive pageant, the whole family reluctantly drives across country in their old VW van on a three-day journey , that is far from dull.

Everything imaginable goes wrong, from clutch and horn problems in the decrepit vehicle, to tragic incidents.

But during their trip, the family works together to help one another through the endless problems they encounter.

This film’s road trip takes the audience along for the sodesplitting whole ride.

With laughter from beginning to end, the noteworthy character development allows the audience to get to know the family, their emotions and their problems.

The cast works together seamlessly and the actors are all well-suited for their parts. With the addition of a great script, the film is a winner

Audiences will not be dissappointed by this remarkable film. Honest to the true spirit of an American family, this is one classic road trip of a film that should not be missed.
