Poster destroyer

On Thursday, April 27, at 8:09 a.m., a DU staff member reported a campaign poster belonging to a DU student was vandalized. A Campus Safety investigation revealed the staff member did not see vandalism nor know the date, time or location that it occurred. Attempts to contact the victim have been unsuccessful. A Campus Safety investigation is on-going.

Nose goes

On Friday, April 28, at 12 p.m., Campus Safety responded to the report of an injured woman at the Delta Zeta sorority house. An on-scene investigation revealed that a DU staff member was moving a ladder when a piece of equipment left on top of the ladder fell, striking her nose. The staff member sustained a minor cut and was treated by Rocky Mountain Medical Group. Risk Management will be notified.

Pot smokers

On Saturday, April 29, at 12:20 a.m., Campus Safety responded to the report of the odor of marijuana coming from a residence hall room at Centennial Halls. An on-scene investigation revealed four DU students admitted to using marijuana. Campus Safety confiscated the drugs and drug paraphernalia. University property was found in the room and returned. The Office of Citizenship and Community Standards will be notified.

Vague vandalism

On Saturday, April 29, at 10:52 a.m., a DU student reported vandalism in parking lot 103. A Campus Safety report revealed the student’s personal vehicle was vandalized between 2 a.m. and 10 a.m. There are no suspects at this time. A Campus Safety investigation is on-going.

Chair scare

On Saturday, April 29, at 7:03 p.m., Campus Safety responded to the report of an injured party at the Ritchie Center. An on-scene investigation revealed an unaffiliated minor fell from a chair during a performance at Magness Arena. Campus Safety contacted the minor’s parent. The parent requested the minor be released to the group’s chaperone. The parent informed Campus Safety she would contact the family’s personal physician for medical treatment. Risk Management will be notified.

Rock ‘n roll

On Sunday, April 30, at 2:40 a.m., a Campus Safety officer was conducting a routine patrol near the intersection of South University Boulevard and East Asbury Avenue when he observed a group of individuals carrying rocks. The Denver Police Department responded and interviewed the individuals, later identified as DU students. An on-scene investigation revealed the students were involved in a verbal altercation at the Pita Jungle CafCB). The Denver Police Department interviewed and released all parties involved.

Eye witness

On Monday, May 1, at 2:50 a.m., a Campus Safety officer was conducting a routine patrol in parking lot 103 when he was contacted by a DU student regarding a hit-and-run traffic accident. A Campus Safety report revealed the student discovered a note on his vehicle at 3 p.m. on Sunday, April 30. The note was said to be left by an eyewitness. The student was advised he could file a report with the Denver Police Department. A Campus Safety investigation is on-going.

Electric theft

On Monday, May 1, at 1:52 p.m., a DU staff member reported a theft at the Ritchie Center. An on-scene investigation revealed electronic equipment was taken from the press box in the Peter Barton Lacrosse Stadium. The theft occurred between Saturday, April 29, at 9:45 a.m. and Monday, May 1, at 6:30 a.m. It is unknown if the room was secured. The staff member was advised he could file a report with the Denver Police Department. A Campus Safety investigation is on-going.

Benching around

On Monday, May 1, at 8:40 p.m., Campus Safety and Denver Fire Department responded to the report of an injured party at the Ritchie Center. An on-scene investigation revealed an unaffiliated man accidentally fell from a bench in the Joy Burns Ice Arena and struck his head. Paramedics transported him to Denver Health Medical Center. Risk Management will be notified.

Elevator incident

On Tuesday, May 2, at 8:06 p.m., Campus Safety and Denver Fire Department responded to the report of a student trapped in an elevator at Centennial Halls. Denver Fire Department was about to turn off the elevator when it began moving and stopped on the 6th floor. The DU student exited the elevator. No injuries were reported. Facilities Management was notified.

Shattered glass

On Tuesday, May 2, at 11:45 p.m., a DU staff member reported vandalism at the Ritchie Center. A Campus Safety report revealed that someone had thrown a glass at the west entrance door and shattered the glass. There are no suspects at this time. Facilities Management was notified. A Campus Safety investigation is on-going.

Public peeing

On Wednesday, May 3, at 12:37 a.m., a Campus Safety officer was conducting a routine patrol near the Ritchie Center when he observed a DU student urinating in public. The student fled from the officer but was later apprehended by another Campus Safety officer. The student was advised of the Student Code of Conduct and released. The Office of Citizenship of Community Standards will be notified.

Laptop theft

On Wednesday, May 3, at 1:21 p.m., Campus Safety responded to the report of theft at Centennial Halls. An on-scene investigation revealed a laptop belonging to a DU student was taken from a residence hall room. The student was advised she could file a report with Denver Police Department. A Campus Safety investigation is on-going.
