The Go! Team is a music group from the United Kingdom. This group is made up of three men and three women who make their music sound youthful. Their album Thunder, Lightning, Strike is filled with many unique sounds that are drawn from many diverse styles and types of music. The graphics on the CD match the music well. The bright colors and childlike drawings and handwriting match the loud and fun sounds. “Panther Dash” is instrumental, but also a fast dance song that repeats the same course of rhythm, although it is still interesting with computer sounds in the background.”Ladyflash” sounds like the Jackson 5 even though it also includes rock beats and sounds from a DJ. It is upbeat with catchy lyrics and childlike voices. There are also sounds that make the song feel like 1980s techno.”Feelgood by Numbers” has a piano tune that is reminiscent of Charlie Brown, which is another childhood influence.”The Power is On” sounds like kids playing jump rope as they are singing. The song has interesting and unique sounds put in by a DJ as well as clapping.”Get it Together” has an Asian sound that is mixed with some kind of flute and DJ mixes in the background. There are also whistles and people saying na, na, na sporadically. At the end of the song everything changes and it starts to sound like some of the Beastie Boys’ later stuff. Also, the kids are saying “go!””We Just Won’t Be Defeated” is a song where the piano contrasts with the singers yelling lyrics. This yelling goes along well with what the song is about-not being defeated.”Junior Kickstart” has loud drums and lots of horns.”Air Raid Gtr” is a short intermission type of track that consists of slow warning sounds, which don’t contribute much to the whole album as the other songs do.”Bottle Rocket” is a fast dance song that has many sounds all at once and the kids singing loudly. This is another song with a 1970s sound quality.”Friendship Update” is slower, yet it still has a 1970s sound. There is no singing and it is mainly piano, with horns, guitars and drums. There are high and low pitches that repeat themselves, which makes the song feel longer.”Hold Yr Terror Close” includes a kid singing and playing the piano. It is somewhat ironic because the content of the songs compared the form don’t really go well together, but this seems to make more of an impact.”Huddle Formation” brings the sounds back to the fast team dance song with the singers shouting. It is fun as it rhymes and shows the group’s love of life. “Everyone’s a VIP to Someone” has a folk and bluegrass style with a banjo in the beginning. This style continues with a harmonica and there is also an orchestra in the background. It almost seems as though the harmonica is singing the song in the place of lyrics. The Go! Team’s album is for people who like to have fun and get in a happy mood while listening to music. Learn more about The Go! Team at www.thegoteamusa.com.
