Fair Trade WeekThis week through Thursday is Fair Trade Week at DU. Events will occur throughout the week at Sturm Hall.Today, at 5 p.m., guest speaker Mark Overly from Kaladi Brothers Coffee will give his speech “Fair Trade Coffee From the Roasters Perspective.”Tomorrow, at 5 p.m., guest speaker Joe Campe, Southwest regional coordinator of United States for Fair Trade will give his speech “A Deeper Understanding of Fair Trade.”Thursday, at 5 p.m., a speaker from Coffee Kids will speak about “Women, Fair Trade, and Beyond.” At 6 p.m., the Fair Trade Documentary Festival begins, including a DU student documentary on CAFTA.To mark the events, Fair Trade coffee will be provided free of charge all week. DU awards ceremonyTomorrow at 5 p.m., the All University Awards Ceremony will be held in the Driscoll Student Center Ballroom in honor of the great achievements that have been accomplished over the past year.Any department, division or student organization may honor individuals at the ceremony.Forms for entries in the ceremony are available at www.du.edu/stuprograms under the awards page. Chancellor SearchSusan Westerberg Prager, one of two final candidates for the open chancellor position, will visit campus this week for her scheduled interview.Along with Robert Coombe, Prager was among the candidates interviewed by the Chancellor Search Committee, which recommended them to the Board of Trustees for consideration. On Friday, from 1:45-2:45 p.m., Prager will be available in an all student open forum at the Mary Reed Building in the Renaissance South room.
Play at DUThe Department of Theatre will present “Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead” by Tom Stoppard this Friday and Saturday at 8 p.m. and Sunday at 2 p.m.Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are college friends of Hamlet and this comedic story is about what happened behind the scenes in Shakespeare’s famous tragedy.Tickets are available by calling (303)357-ARTS or by visiting the Newman Center Box Office located on the first floor of the Joy Burns Plaza at the Newman Center for the Performing Art.
Penrose finals hoursIn preperation of Finals Week, starting Wednesday, May 25 and running through Wednesday, June 1, Penrose Library will extend their hours to help students who wish to study late.On Wednesday, May 25 and Thursday, May 26, Penrose will open at 7 a.m. and close at 2 a.m. The UTS Lab and Late Night Study area will be open from 7-2 a.m. these two days as well.Penrose will open at the regularly scheduled 10 a.m. on Sunday, May 29, but close at 2 a.m.From May 30-June 1, Penrose will also open at 7 a.m. and close at 2 a.m. with the UTS Lab and Late Night Study area open 24 hours.
