Earth Day celebrations
The DU Community Action Program, the DU Environmental Team, Environmental Awareness Living and Learning Community, and Environmental Science Program are presenting Earth Day events all this week.
The series will focus on renewable energy, but also includes great volunteer opportunities.
Today, the series will feature a showing of the new documentary “Oil on Ice” in Davis Auditorium at Sturm Hall. The documentary begins at 7 p.m. and will run for an hour.
The documentary will show a vivid and comprehensive look at the fight over the future of the Alaskan National Wildlife Refuge that is currently raging in Congress.
It will also take a look at fate of the refuge and how these decisions will impact energy policy, transportation choices, and other seemingly unrelated matters in America.
In addition, on Saturday, volunteers will meet in front of Sturm Hall at 9 a.m. to plant 60 trees throughout University Park and other surrounding off-campus areas. To join, e-mail cap@du.edu.
The series will also include a presentation by Colorado photographer John Fielder on Monday, April 18, at 7 p.m in Lindsey Auditorium.
For a full list of events and more information about the entire Earth Day celebration, check out the DU Community Action Program website at http://www.du.edu/cap/.
