Freedom Seder

The office of Multicultural Affairs Hillel will hold the third annual Freedom Seder on Jan. 19 at Driscoll north’s Jazzman’s Cafe at 5 p.m. Themes will be expressed through music, dance, poetry, art and food.

Reproductive rights

DU Naral is sponsoring Reproductive Rights Week Jan. 24-27 in Sturm College of Law with events occuring all week.

On Mondany, Prof. Kristian Miccio will be holding a lecture called “The Basics of Reproductive Choice Defined: History and Ethics of Reproductive Choice,” which will examine how issues define choice.

On Tuesday there will be a presentation on the impact of the election on reproductive choice.

A lecture on the ethics and law regarding same-sex marriage, on emergency contraception and its availability at DU, and the future of Roe v. Wade will be on Wednesday.

On Thursday there will be a lecture on gender issues, birth control and human rights, as well as a discussion on the reproductive rights of disabled parents.

Eat, support relief

AUSA Senate will be holding a lunch in support of tsunami relief Monday, Jan. 31 from 11 to 2 p.m. in Driscoll Ballroom. There will be a $10 minimum donation and students will be allowed to have their meal cards swiped twice, with Sodexho writing one check to UNICEF.

Honors course

A DU Honors summer course will be given in Oxford in July as a summer-coordinated independent reading and research called “Topics in British Intellectual History.”

The seminar is being offered to all honors students as PLSC 3991 “Honors Seminar: Topics In British Intellectual History” (4 credit hours), taught by Honors Director Todd Breyfogle.

There will be an information session regarding the course Wednesday Jan. 19 in the honors seminar room from 5 to 6 p.m.

Are you feeling full?

There will be a hunger banquet Wednesday, Feb. 2 from 5 to 7 p.m. in the Driscoll Ballroom.

The banquet will focus on the 24,000 people that die from hunger and other preventable causes. One in six people live on less than $1 a day. 32.2 million people in the United States live below the poverty line.

Snowboard fundraiser

DU Snowboard Club will be holding their annual “Wax-N-tune” fundraiser Jan. 24 – 26.

All profits will be split between the victims of the tsunami through the Red Cross and a beginner day for DU students who want to learn how to snowboard.
