Drop-kick, fight

RAAP (Rape Assistance and Awareness) is sponsoring a free women’s self-defense class for DU students tomorrow from 6 to 9 p.m. The class will be held in the multipurpose room in the Ritchie Center.

Israel films

The Center for Judaic Studies and the Institute for the Study of Israel in the Middle East are presenting the first annual Israel Film Series called “Israeli Multiculturalism: Complexity and Contradictions.”

Films will be shown every Wednesday at 7 p.m. in Lindsay Auditorium in Sturm Hall. The first film, Broken Wings, will be tomorrow and the series will end March 2.

Transgender talkback

The Gender and Women’s Studies Program and the Center for Multicultural Excellence are presenting “Transgender Talkback: Gender Identity: Everything You Wanted to Know But Were Afraid to Ask.”

There will be a presentation by local transgender activist Nick Sarchet followed by an open question and answer session Thursday, Feb. 8 in the Chambers Center Garden Room. It will be from noon to 1 p.m. Lunch will be provided.

Need a ski wax?

The DU Ski and Snowboard Club will be waxing skis and snowboards tomorrow in Driscoll Ballroom from 10 to 4 p.m.

The cost is $6 for a hot wax or a edge wax and costs $10 for both.

Free concert

Chabad of South Denver, DUPB and United for Israel is sponsoring a free concert featuring Matisyahu at Sidelines Pub Feb. 5 at 8 p.m.

There will be a pre-concert opening act by the Lamont School of Music.

Matisyahu describes his music as a cross between Bob Marley and Hasidic composer, Shlomo Carlebach. He has appeared on CNN, Jimmy Kimmel Live and Last Call with Carson Daly.

Can you hold ’em?

There will be a Texas Hold ‘Em Intramural Poker Tournament tomorrow from 7 to 11 p.m. The tournament will be in the Gottesfeld Room in the Ritchie Center. There will be a $10 registration fee.
