Students awarded scholarships
University of Denver Graduate School of International Studies (GSIS) students Dawn Dahlke and Morgan Taylor have been awarded Fulbright Scholarships, making them the ninth and 10th DU students in four years to receive the prestigious award. Undergraduate students Katrina Schmidt and Robb Kulin also were awarded the scholarships this year.
Named for the late Sen. J. William Fulbright, the Fulbright Scholarship program is committed to increasing mutual understanding between the people of the United States and the people of other countries through educational and cultural exchanges. More than 150 countries have participated in the program since it was established by the U.S. Congress in 1946.

Opera previews
An evening of opera previews in Gates Concert Hall for Central City Opera’s 2004 festival season will be tonight at 7 p.m. in the Newman Center for the Performing Arts.
Ken Cazan, known for his productions of Gloriana, Dialogues of the Carmelites, and Summer and Smoke, introduces The Juggler of Notre Dame (for which he serves as stage director) and The Tales of Hoffman. Excerpts will be performed.

Free Kynewisbok, Foothills this week
Student media will wrap up the year this week with the distribution of free copies of the yearbook and the literary journal.
Foothills, the undergraduated literary journal, and Kynewisbok, the yearboo will be distributed for free on campus throughout the week.
This week is also the final issue of the Clarion. Production will resume in the fall quarter..

Join fight against ALS this month
in honor of national ALS Awareness Month, the ALS Association is unveiling its 2004 ALS Awareness campaign called, “The ALS Association — Lighting the Way for a Treatment and Cure.”
ALS, commonly known as Lou Gehrig’s Disease, is a fatal neuromuscular disease. There will be the 2nd Annual ESPN Celebrity Golf Tournament tomorrow hosted by former Denver Bronco Pete Duranko. The tournament will be held at the Omni Interlocken Golf Club in Broomfield and will benefit the Rocky Mountain Chapter of the ALS Association and the Colorado Chapter of the National Football Foundation.

The Mass Communications department will be presenting a screening of ten short narrative films on Wednesday, June 2 at 7 p.m.in Sturm Auditorium.
These films were produced by DU film and video students this quarter.
