Want to get involved in the government without leaving your computer? In response to the recent governmental announcement addressing homosexual marriage, two Web sites, one called “Million For Marriage,” the other called “Marriage Protection Week,” are each requesting signatures on an online petition.

“Million for Marriage” is a liberal Web site. Visitors to the site can expect to run into information and opinion in support of homosexual marriage, as well as negative comments regarding President Bush’s current stance.

The “Million for Marriage” petition states, “I do support the right of every American to marry, including gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender couples. I believe that marriage and other civil rights protections are essential to making all families safer and more secure. By signing this petition, I agree to support efforts to make marriage equality a reality in our country, and to oppose any attempts to discriminate against GLBT couples and individuals.”

The “Marriage for Protection Week” is a conservative Web site. Visitors can expect to find information and opinion in support of President Bush, and the conservation of marriage as something only allowed to heterosexuals. “Marriage Protection Week” petition reads, “A Petition to Members of Congress. Traditional marriage between a man and woman is the God-ordained building block of the family and bedrock of a civil society. Therefore, I urge your support of a federal marriage amendment to protect traditional marriage between one woman and one man.”

Both sites contain links to articles detailing the current situation regarding marriage. The “Million for Marriage” Web site is at www.millionformarriage.com and the “Marriage Protection Week” Web site is at www.marriageprotectionweek.com.
