In an effort to link the students at the Daniels College of Business with the rest of the campus, business students and faculty have created a committee to act as a liaison.
Called CUBS (Council for Undergraduate Business Students), the committee will “focus on issues affecting undergraduate business students, including changing or creating innovative programs and classes, improving faculty relations and communication and developing certain functions of the business school, such as advising,” according to Milena Zilo, AUSA Senate representative for CUBS.
Zilo, a sophomore and finance major, said, CUBS wants “to reach out to more students on campus.”
She said, “We want to let them know there are definitely resources out there for them.”
Rali Sanderson, a senior and international business major, said CUBS will give business students the chance to voice their problems and concerns about DCB programs, as well as programs within DU itself.
“We have the opportunity to determine whether things at DCB are good or bad,” he said. “Even if it’s just a little thing, we have the ability to do something about it.”
Sanderson will serve as the international business representative for CUBS. Students in the committee were nominated by the division deans. Zilo and senior Andrew Petraitis were elected in AUSA elections.
During the winter quarter, CUBS will be taking on a big project concerning the business school, although members are unsure of what the project will be.
A public forum for CUBS will be held tomorrow in DCB Commons from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. There will be drawings and prize giveaways and refreshments will be served.
