THE UNIVERSITY OF Denver women’s soccer program continues to dominate rival schools around the country and are currently on a streak which has demonstrated that they are a force to reckon with no matter who they are playing. The Pioneer’s record – as of press time – is 11-2-1. The team has reeled off six straight wins over their opponents. The Pioneers also have a 9-0 home record. Their most recent win was a 6-1 drubbing of North Texas.

Not only have they been winning, but they have been dominating all comers on their way to the second straight NCAA playoffs appearance. The team lost to Stanford last year in its first NCAA playoff appearence.

The Pioneers have beaten the opposition by at least four goals in four of their games. They also have eight shutouts. A look at the cumulative statistics demonstrates that the women’s team is dominating their opponents.

The Pioneers have kept pressure on their opponnents with 66 corner kicks to their opponnents’ 25. Their shots are on target. They are averaging a .152 shot precentage to their opponents .092 shot precentage.

Goalies Cassandra Kaeding and Erica Izard have only been forced to make 2.43 saves a game. A goals against average of .79 is a strong indicator that this team is strong in all areas.

The Pioneers are also winning individual awards. Mychael Movius was the most recent member of the team to receive player of the week honors brought the total number of Pioneers to receive the award to three, a Sun Belt Conference high. Junior forward Jamie Norwood was also recently honored by being named to the soccer Buzz Elite team of the week.

The Pioneer women will try to improve their record this weekend on the road against South Alabama and Lafayette.
