The Delta Delta Delta sorority scored for charity Oct. 12.

The sorority raised approxiamtly $1,000 for the Children’s Hospital of Denver during their second Cancer Strike-out softball tournament, said Jen Meisenzahl, philanthropy chairperson for Tri Delta.

Fourteen teams participated in the softball tournament with the Department of Residence team placing first.

Proceeds from the tournament will help families, whose children are patients at Children’s Hospital, pay for treatment for such diseases as cancer, Meisenzahl said.

This tournament was considered more succesful than last year’s tournament as the sorority had a better tourn-out, she said.

“Things ran more smoothly” and the sorority received donations from local businesses.

St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital is the national cause for the Tri Delta sororities.

Meisenzahl said, they do not have any future philanthropy events planned.
