Personal integrity is of great importance at the University of Denver. The Honor Code was created to promote this kind of honesty and now the school is going to go further to promote personal integrity.
Chancellor Daniel L. Ritchie and Colorado State University President Al Yates have joined forces to offer a series of lectures and events for the upcoming year that will highlight the themes of civic duty and personal integrity.
“I have observed that people’s standards of personal integrity aren’t what they should be. If we don’t have personal integrity, things don’t work,” Ritchie said.
In an interview with the Clarion, Ritchie stressed that it is important for DU students to get involved in the planned events and to attend as many of them as possible. The opening event will be held Sept. 23 in Magness Arena at 7 p.m. Former U.S. Senator and astronaut John Glenn and Colorado Gov. Bill Owens will be the featured speaker.
CSU will also be participating and will bring its students to the opening of the event.
The closing event, which will be held in April, will take place on the CSU campus and DU will send buses with students.
The guest list for the year includes religious leaders from the major religious denominations and author Elie Wiesel. There will be an event nearly every week until April.
